Just days after Gov. Sarah Palin was named as Senator John McCain’s running mate, Ms. Palin made an unlikely announcement of her own on Monday: Her daughter Bristol, 17 and unmarried, was five months pregnant.
As Americans began learning this week about Ms. Palin — Alaskan hunter, hockey mom, former beauty queen, corruption fighter, and governor they knew little about — they were also piecing together a portrait of her family life and all its complications. Ms. Palin had once supported the candidate who ran against her own stepmother-in-law for mayor of her town, Wasilla. She was being investigated over claims that she had put pressure on an underling to fire her sister’s former husband from his job as a state trooper. And she had waited until she was seven months pregnant to make public news that she was expecting a fifth child this year, a pregnancy that was complicated by Down syndrome. -SNIP- And on Monday, more details seemed to be spilling out. McCain campaign officials first confirmed to the Christian Broadcasting Network on Monday that Todd Palin had pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in 1986; he had been pulled over, they said, in Dillingham, Alaska, while driving a pickup truck with friends. Mr. Palin has several other minor traffic violations, records show. He pleaded no contest to illegally operating an off-road vehicle in a game refuge in 2002, and that year was charged with failing to stop for a red light.

Did opening his political career in the living room of a terrorist who bombed the capitol interrupt Obama’s script? How about bailing out on his minister of 20 freakin years—seems like that might interrupt the oh-so-scripted Obama’s career trajectory.
Have you noticed how the white boys down at the DNC have designated only females as the serial attackers for this subject. Almost every article posted today about Governor Palin’s daughter was “written” by a female. It’s probably just a coincidence. Liberal females remind me of the Stepford Wives.
Today was the exact day and time the McCain campaign intended to release this information.
It wasn’t going to be released on her introduction last Friday in order to enjoy the full Sarah effect on the nation going into the weekend. The effect being of someone so authentic, conservative, and unknown (with lots of charisma) taking the spotlight.
Labor day was the perfect day because it could not dominate the news in light of other more important events. And, it will create more drama and anticipation leading up to Wednesday night with Sarah’s speech.
The Republicans didn’t have the drama going into this week like the Democrats did with the Clintons last week (or at least the media speculation of the drama). The result was really good viewership for the DNC convention.
The Republicans now have some of their own drama to get people tuned in... as has been said before.. even bad publicity is good publicity.
Let’s see, Obama earmarks 1 million taxpayer dollars to the hospital that his wife works for (after they were nice enough to give her a big fat promotion) - no problem.
Todd Palin ran a stoplight and drove intoxicated two decades ago - headline news.
Come now! Don’t you realize that a 17-year-old getting pregnant is WAY more important than possible conflict of interest and influence-peddling at the highest levels of the American government?

LOL. You know, the people of Alaska are REAL fast going to start making the lives of the reporters decending upon them a REAL nightmare. I can easily relate to these kind of people and they are NOT gonna stay nice a polite and welcoming for long given the kind of crap that the MSM is reporting.

Imagine if Sarah Palin had been introduced to the public in the era before the Internet (or even Fox News). Imagine if, over the past few days, you had only been permitted to hear (slanted versions of) “the bad stuff” about Sarah Palin.

That was the same wench who some of the drive-bys interviewed on TV that was less than enthusiastic in her support of the Palin/McCain ticket.
