President used to be a Democrat. What’s your point?

Governor Palin is a Republican now. Today.

Really? I generally like Constitutinalists and Libertarians better than Republicans. I vote Republican because the mathematics of winner-take-all elections make that the only rational choice.

I'm willing to bet that it won't be long before the Left's talking heads will jump all over this. I can see it now:

"Conservatives are now questioning her affiliation with an extreme breakaway political party, causing deep rifts in the Republican ticket. The seemingly untouchable goddess of the right is now under scrutiny".

I sure am glad I don't support the above, which will come.

It's not like she was a member of the COMMUNIST Party advocating the violent overthrow of the US Government unlike Obama's closest friends and mentors.

I used to be a Libertarian 6 years ago -- what of it?

People sure are desperate to try and make her look bad.

Chuck Baldwin is nuts, but she wasn’t endorsing him, she was just sending a welcome message to that Alaskan party. There’s absolutely nothing controversial with anything she said in that video.

Heck, a lot of freepers here were going to take that route before Palin was put on the McCain ticket.

I’m betting she’s voting for the Republican party nominee now.

I ate some rich, succulent, wild Alaskan Salmon yesterday to celebrate, no doubt the Salmon was caught between Sarah Palin’s teeth, which made it all the more enjoyable.

Here is the video on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrIyI&feature=related

It’s the Alaska Independence Party. It’s already being said that she was a member of this party before she became mayor of Wasilla.

“Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.”

And while McCain’s motto — as seen in a new TV ad — is “Country First,” the AIP’s motto is the exact opposite — “Alaska First — Alaska Always.”

Lynette Clark, the chairman of the AIP, tells ABC News that Palin and her husband Todd were members in 1994, even attending the 1994 statewide convention in Wasilla. Clark was AIP secretary at the time.

“We are a state’s rights party,” says Clark, a self-employed goldminer. The AIP has “a plank that challenges the legality of the Alaskan statehood vote as illegal and in violation of United Nations charter and international law.”

She says it’s not accurate to describe the party as secessionist — they just want a vote, she says, adding that the members of the AIP hold different opinions on what Alaska should be.

“My own separate opinion as an individual is that we should be an independent nation,” Clark says. Others in the AIP “believe that being a commonwealth would be a good avenue to follow.” Some advocate statehood — but a fuller statehood than exists now.

She doesn’t know what Palin’s position was.

“It never came up in conversation,” Clark recalls. “But when she joined the party, our platform was right under her nose.”

This will probably be all over the news tomorrow.

Dear Fellow FRs:

I went to Office Depot today...They had a sale on DVDs...You know stuff that no one wants...2 for 1?

In this discount bin was John McCain’s life story.. Faith of My Father...I bought it...

I watched this tonight and thought...

My God, we do not know this man. We have no clue...yet we all need to learn from him.

Go to Office Deport tomorrow and buy the DVD... 9 dollars for two...Watch it and pass it on....

I’m sick to death at the small people still on this forum who continue to bad mouth McCain...I’ve come around... He’s a great American and we should be all proud that he is our candidate...

I have 60 days to promote this man...I’m tired of hearing the negatives from the bloggers here....You know who they are...

Let’s work to get our ticket elected...

So I take it, some idiot, some where, will use this to suggest that Palin is a member?

Alaska haas a prominent third party, the Alaskan Independence Party, that I believe has won some races in the state. So Palin is used to a multiparty system.

She’s right about the importance of third parties. Perhaps we coudl get an Electoral Non-Discriminaton Act that says that whatever standards you use in terms of nominations and ballot access for the major parties, you cannot make more difficult standards for third parties. it still leaves intact that the states run elections, but it insists that they must be run on an even playing field.
