Anti-War Protesters Attack Conn. GOP Delegates Some Delegates Doused With Bleach-Like Substance; Rowdy Crowd Estimated At Between 2,000-10,000 ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) ― Protesters attacked Connecticut delegates near the site of the Republican National Convention Monday in a demonstration where more than a dozen people were arrested by police using pepper spray amid window-smashing, bottle-throwing and tire-slashing.

It was a violent counterpoint to an otherwise peaceful anti-war march not far from the Xcel Energy Center convention site.

Many protesters involved in the more violent protest were clad in black and identified themselves to reporters as anarchists. They wrought havoc by damaging property and setting at least one fire. Most of the trouble was in pockets of a neighborhood near downtown, several blocks from where the convention was taking place.

I do not understand how we let these anarchists continue on their crusade to destroy this country. The bus stops at the stop close to the Convention Hall and immediately these thugs dressed in black charge innocent citizens, threatening their lives with liquids thrown at them and their Convention badges pulled violently from their necks.
This behavior is absolutely unacceptable, we must immediately bring the people that could stop this anarchy, bring in the military.

The RNC Welcoming Committee is an anarchist/anti-authoritarian organizing body formed to prepare for the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. The RNC-WC, composed primarily of Twin Cities-based anarchists and anti-authoritarians, will function as an informational clearinghouse and organize a spokescouncil for RNC resistance. 1. A rejection of Capitalism, Imperialism, and the State;

2. Resist the commodification of our shared and living Earth;

3. Organize on the principles of decentralization, autonomy, sustainability, and mutual aid;

4. Work to end all relationships of domination and subjugation, including but not limited to those rooted in patriarchy, race, class, and homophobia;

5. Oppose the police and prison-industrial complex, and maintain solidarity with all targets of state repression;

6. Directly confront systems of oppression, and respect the need for a diversity of tactics.

I’m with you. Sure, they are arrested but usually they end up right back on the street. I am appalled that disgusting creatures like this are allowed to live in my country. We can all sit here and beat our chests saying that the police or national guard responded nicely to these types of acts, but the sad truth is that these creatures are only getting more bold as time goes by. Pretty soon, and I am starting to hope that it will be very soon, we will have to deal with these communists (they are not ‘anarchists’) that infest our nation with a finality that once and for all sends the message that this is a free country and that continually losing at the ballot box does not give you the right to act like an animal. I never thought that I would say this but I am getting to the point where I sincerely hope that the tipping point is very near.
