Sarah Palin, Her Daughter, and the Smear Machine
Pajamas Media ^ | September 1, 2008 | Michele Catalano

Isn't it the Democrats who are supposed to be all about privacy in matters of the womb?

So, Bristol Palin, 17-year-old daughter of VP nominee Sarah Palin, is five months pregnant. While that closes one door — the endless rumors of the teenager being pregnant with Trig four and a half months ago and her mother faking the pregnancy for her — it opens another avenue for attacks on the newly named GOP VP pick.

Sarah and Todd Palin say their 17-year-old unmarried daughter is pregnant. The couple said in a statement released by John McCain’s presidential campaign that Bristol will keep her baby.

Sarah Palin is McCain’s vice presidential running mate. The Alaska governor says Bristol intends to marry the father of her child. She and the campaign also are asking that the media respect the family’s privacy

Privacy? Don’t bet on it. This is a whole fresh pile of mud for the left to start slinging. They’ll attack Palin’s family values stance, talk about how Palin teaches abstinence, and start trotting out the hypocrisy meme. Except this is not Palin who is the unmarried, pregnant teen. It’s her daughter. It’s not particularly shocking when a teenager does something against the parents’ teachings, is it? If we were to call out every parent who taught abstinence from sex, smoking, drugs, or drinking then had a kid indulge in any (or all) of those, we’d be here all day.

Exactly. Also, I’m sure the Palin’s sat down with the family and discussed the media’s spotlight.
It was a known issue in Alaska, so it’s not like they didn’t think it was going to get out to the press.

trying to bring the focus back to McCain

Ed Shultz is trying to do just that. On his rant this morning on the radio, he told the audience 4 or 5 times in as many minutes how tired and worn out McCain looks and how Mac is too old to cut the mustard. His guest must have gotten tired of that rant because they went back to their Palin smear. Gag me. Uff dah.

Nice one, Jeff!

Bristol's pregnancy is such a non-story. Last time I checked, she wasn't the VP candidate. Life happens! She's doing the responsible adult thing and not taking the easy way out. The Rats need to get over it.

Implying that Sarah’s job should be with her daughter. That’s what I would do if I were running Obama’s campaign.

I have no doubt that the Palin's, knowing she might be a veep pick, have discussed this endlessly and have worked out the means to emotionally and otherwise support Bristol through all this and have Mom run for veep. For the dems to say she must stay home is to invite charges of sexism, and rightly so. They would not ask this of a man, as Fred has pointed out.

I want to get this straight.

It’s OK for Bill Clinton to have adulterous sex with an intern in the White House. And it’s OK for John Edwards to cheat on his dying wife and tell the floozy they’ll be together when Elisabeth dies, because she was in remission at the time.

But it’s not OK for a VP nominee’s daughter to sleep with her boyfriend (the daughter’s boyfriend, that is).

Maybe it is just me, but I am very dissapointed that Bristol is pregnant, but it is none of my business. I wonder if McCain would have chosen her if he knew? This is going to be the nastiest campaign ever by the left of course.

Recognize that these are liberals and unfamiliar with weapons, so when they try to shoot themselves in the foot, it might take a while.

Quote of the day in my humble opinion...

And you would lose the race with a statement like that. What a sexist thing to think. She should be with her daughter?
For what, the girl is already pregnant...that’s done.
So the dems should release a statement saying the woman should quit her job because her kid is knocked up?
I don’t think that would go over very well.
lol

I didn’t say MUST stay home...there’s a big difference between stating it and implying it. WE WOULD DO THE SAME THING IF THE SHOE WERE ON THE OTHER FOOT.

This has been repeated over and over.

You know, back in the 1960s when I was a teenager, there were a bunch of neigborhood bullies who did to a young lady , they way these lefties are doing to Miss Palin.

Back then we just waded in. The bullies had bruises and a few stitches, and far better manners after the fact.

( This attack has nothing to do with the Presidential Election. Its designed to hurt a young lady, and demoralize her Mom. Imagine if we went at Chelsea Clinton like this, cataloguing every likely penile entry ? Whoa!)

Now this dynamic manifests on a national level , and no authority calls them on it. This could be a good reason to sue Daily KOS and shut it down, just like the little weenies have been trying to shut Rush Limbaugh down.

But we have a good , cogent reason to do so.WHAM. Daily KOS is GONE off from the web. That would make me feel really, really good.

Yep! Pit of Orcs indeed. Desperate slime balls. They have no honor. And they wax fascist, as predicted by Jonah Goldberg in his new Book, "Liberal Fascism."

Photobucket

No good will come of this dirty work for the Dem Cause. And more PUMA gals have just decided to vote McCain on this issue.

These Orcs seem to want to lash out and hurt everybody as they go down. So it will be when the Annointed One loses.

Thats what ORCS do.

This whole affair is a message. We need to be prepared.

And Miss Palin? I am sure she has sought her Mom's forgiveness. And got it. She should not be branded with such dirt.

Either the children - even minor children - of candidates are off limits or they are not.

Unfortunately, the children of our political opponents are not fair game under any circumstance. Obama (and supporters) smears and McCain (and supporters) responses are asymmetrical. Morally, you cannot go to the depths of the Obama campaign depravity. It is just not right.

I still think this is a one-day story.

I hope this story has long legs and is the talk of the media for weeks. Obama should not get one pathetic word. Hillary took it during the primary full on and now this scumbag goes after a 17 year old girl! Obama is evil and a misogynist.

Well, that just about does it for Palin.

These goes the Christian vote. There goes the social conservative vote.

It was a nice couple of days to think we were going to win this one ... not anymore.

No matter what any of you think ... this will sink McCain/Palin I'm sorry to say. You might think people have “grown beyond” something like this, but you would be wrong.

I have no problem with this situation. My best friend's daughter had a child at 19, unmarried. She is a very good mother and gets all the support she needs from my friend and his wife.

The “hypocrisy” angle will be played non-stop from now till Nov. on this situation.

I am surprised that since McCain knew of this before announcing Palin as his pick, he still considered her.

This if very bad news politically for the GOP and Mrs. Palin, but good news for Mr. & Mrs. Palin for the soon to be expected Grand Child. (Hopefully the father will hold up his end and not abandon Sarah's daughter).
