Live coverage...levee is failing 350 feet of wall falling apart as we speak...
Caernarvon is the area.
Just did it. Thanks.
The Parrish president says it is breaching..I only put up what he said and ABC is saying.
FIRE right back at you. I work for a local public agency dealing with bridges. Even though our bridges are not state owned or maintained, we get inspected by the state DOT. I would imagine that these levees are given the same treatment by COE because I’m sure that federal funds were involved in their construction.
Regardless of who screwed up, the persons responsible should be fired. Period.
Good thing New Orleans was evacuated first, isn’t it?
See what Ray Nzgin can do, if you kick his butt sufficiently hard beforehand?
They had how long to fix the levee problems there? where in the hell did my money go?
In the NO area, it’s the NO Levee Board.
Guess what they spend most of their time and money doing? It’s not inspecting levees.
Parish president ordering everyone to get out. He doesn’t think they can stop the water.
What a racket: Build at 20 feet below sea level in hurricane alley and fleece the Federal Government for disaster aid every 3 years.
Video on Fox 8.
Lasted report is that there is a large amount of water that has broken through the levee and about 3 or 4 dozen people with sandbag truck fighting to maintain it. Everyone in the area has been ordered to evacuate.
Using a shotgun doesn’t guarantee a hit.
You and Obama are the same ie: Talking about something far above your pay grade. (Only Obama admitted it!)
I disagree. It's none of the Fed's business where a property owner builds.
OTOH it's none of the Fed's business whether it gets rebuilt.
We have such an area in my city: By day and most of the year it is a soccer park, dog park, grassy area for kite flying, running, etc. In storms the runoff is channeled there where large pumps move it along as needed. The entire area is probably only about twenty acres and is surrounded by housing developments raised several feet above the field, but it works so far.
Here’s a tv station in NO with live feed link

Is this the same board that Moon Landreau was in charge of?
I thought I heard during Katrina this was one of his deals.
people should read the whole thread before posting wildly inaccurate statements that have already been covered in other posts.
Doesn’t appear you are exactly familiar with the State/Local Gov workings in Louisana. AND its been pointed out that this levee was built by NAGIN. Nuf Said.
What is that supposed to mean? So what you’re saying is that whoever is responsible for a failing levee POST Katrina in New Orleans should not be fired? And you are a Free Republic member why?
Obviously you don’t believe in personal responsibility.
Obviously you don’t believe in reducing government corruption, incompetence, or waste.
Fine, you win this argument. Now go pay your taxes.
