ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Of the three women, only one demonstrates solid conservative principles, Hutchinson. I’ll grant you she would have been a good pick also. I think her only baggage may be the two Senator ticket.

Hutchison is also older, and she seems a little dull. However, she has so much experience. She’s not perfect, but she’s earned my respect over the years. I would have felt very comfortable with her as VP, and I would have felt like she could be President if need be.

I forgot to add a few more:

Haley Barbour (sp??) (I thought he handled Katrina very well, especially compared to Blanco.)

and my all time favorite pick:

General Patreous (sp?) (but he probably should stay where he’s at right now.)

There seems to be a feeling that adoptive parents are somehow “second best”, that it is better to be with blood relatives under most any circumstances. I simply do not believe that.

It is better for a child to be raised by a stable married couple than by teenagers, even if they are married. I stand by that generality.

The page has been pulled. I saw the link early this morning on the Huffington whatever it is. It has since been removed and the page is gone when I went on myspace.

The kid’s name is Levi Johnston. There are articles out there with his pic.

Yep, I’d go with the general too, but the election will hinge on the economy no matter how important the war is. Barbour is good but male and McCain needed a hail mary pick.

Thanks for your reply. Yesterday, there was a page posted of a 14 year old boy named Chris that someone was trying to link to Bristol Palin.

That said, it would be really easy for someone to fake a Myspace or Facebook page.

That’s what my husband is saying. I haven’t talked to a lot of my friends about this. I live in California, so it’s useless talking politics here.

Anyway, the few I’ve talked to, the women are like me and trying to figure out the motivation of McCain (and Palin), and the men really like Palin. Maybe the men have more confidense in the Palin’s husband to take care of the children.

This is also the only thread I’m going to say anything negative about the whole thing. I’m not thrilled with the situation, but I know complaining about it only gives the other side ammo. I also don’t think it’s a good idea for her to drop out at this point. The damage is done. (I just would not have put my daughter in the media like that if she were 17 and pregnant.)

Of course that is true. But speaking generally, which is all we can do since none of us know the family, teen marriages do not work out well. Add the stress of lost dreams (ie, hockey career), the public eye and a child, that does not sound like an ideal situation.

But I could introduce you to dozens of couples today that had strong, stable marriages who are longing for a child or for another child to complete their family.

How in the world is it a bad thing to chose to adopt out your baby?!

This did not seem to be faked. There was substantial activity and it felt and sounded very much like a teen boy (and I have 3).

The family has confirmed the boyfriend’s identity as Levi.

I know wonderful families that have adopted!!!! One of my friends from my old job, he and his wife have become foster parents to a number of special needs kids, and they have adopted a few of them. I have a lot of respect for them. They had natural children, but started being foster parents when their own children were grown. The mom homeschools the special needs kids.

It takes a lot of effort and commitment to adopt a child, so I think they are better prepared than most couples that have a natural pregnancy.

It’s really hard to give up a baby for adoption, but it is such a really non-selfish thing to do. I’ve told my daughters that if they ever got pregnant before they were married, then I would encourage them to put the baby up for adoption.

Hutchinson is too old. McCain needed to go with someone in their 40’s or 50’s.

Looks like this did resonate with the people. New poll has Obama up over 51% and McCain at 42%. That ain’t good. Its so frustrating that the dems can start a nasty rumor about a nice girl and the Republicans take one in the shorts again.

"Correction: He's a sperm doner. Whether he becomes a father or not remains to be seen. Many teenagers cannot handle the responsibility."

I love it when a stranger condemns another person based upon no personal knowledge of that whatsoever. It's SO open minded.

McCain dropped like a rock in the polls. Obama is up over 50@ now. They said if Obama ever reaches 50@ he will win. The MSM is ecstatic. I hate it when democrats get rewarded for their dispicable behavior.

I so some work with an adoption group and so have met the most wonderful adoptive parents. And the kids (they are usually young, but not always) who adopt out their babies are the most clear-headed, unselfish people I have ever met. They desperately want to keep their babies (those who do not never come in to chose the adoptive parents, but they know there are couples far better prepared.

I am always floored by the attitudes against adoption. The hang ups with blood relationships, too. In the end, it doesn’t take a village to raise a child, it takes a couple.

UMMMM? Maybe because they love and want this baby and the baby is their flesh and blood. Who are you to say what is in this child’s best interest. The best interest of a child is to have a loving family. This one does!

She didn’t need the boyfriends permission to put the baby up for adoption. Its good she kept it, though.

“I’m voting for McCain now.”

That is fine with me. My issue are people that are inconsistent. How can one call Romney a lib and McCain a conservative? Why is abortion the only test of a Conservative? How can we elect a man President that won’t drill in ANWR? Mainly because he does not have a clue what drilling looks like? Frankly when Pelosi said she was in favor of Natural Gas because she was opposed to fossil fuels, most of my circle that that could come from the mouth of McCain. Does he know about the Destin Dome?

"I am directly blaming the Palins for putting their daughter in the spotlight."

I'm fairly sure "the Palins" didn't get their daughter pregnant.

No one is a perfect parent but the fact remains that Bristol and Levi are the parents that God gave this little one and unless they PROVE to be unfit (ie physical or sexual abuse) then you or no one else has any right to say what they should do with the baby God gave them.
