ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

I wish they would even just cover adoption as a good option. However, it probably isn’t a real option with the whole celebrity part of the pregnancy.
If McCain knew beforehand, then I really wish McCain would have picked someone else. I’m more mad at McCain because he did this to us.
I originally thought Hillary would win, and I would just sit out the election. I think McCain is the same as Hillary. When Obama got picked, it changed everything. I just don’t have a lot of confidense in McCain, and this situation is not helping.
There are better picks, but not Romney, Pawlenty, etc (not strict Constitutionalists) perhaps Huckabee or Thompson, certainly Hunter. But as the male candidates get more conservative the media paints more of a burning cross picture next to them. A woman is somewhat immune to that. Already they have claimed that Palin supports Buchanan and Buchanan supports Hitler. Smears like that will bounce off of her whereas Thompson got tarred with racism just for being Federalist.
ye of little faith!
McCain has been getting tons of money since he named Palin as his VP. Yes, she has a pregnant daughter, it happens. Even to preacher’s kids. I support McCain more now than before.
5 years from now, no one will care that Palin has a daughter who got pregnant at 17.
The problem is that the daughter is a teenager and pregnant, and her mom is putting her in the spotlight and then off to go work in Washington.
I really feel bad for this teenager. Her pregnancy is now in newspapers not only in the USA.But in foreign newspapers as well. This coverage this is getting is just crazy. Why would any sane person enter politics and subject them self to this kind of mess. Even children are not off limits it seems. And forget about having a past.
As a blanket statement of fact, that has to be one of the most ridiculous statements EVER made.
There are bad teen parents and there are good teen parents.
There are bad mature parents and there are good mature parents.
There are teen parents that are more mature than middle-aged parents.
Is life more difficult for teen parents?...as a rule, yes.
But, to say, point blank, that it is better for a child, born to a teen, to be adopted out is, point blank, asinine. Period. IMO.
What he did for me (and us) is pick a strong conservative who increases his odds in November. He did know beforehand just as he knows that "someone else" would have problems as well. Why don't you name and defend a better candidate?
“then make your arguments about McCain,”
Two things 1) if you do not like my posts don’t read them. There are plenty of people around here I do not read.
2) my argument is about McCain. He made a bad choice. He does it all the time.
3) it is a bad choice because while not popular around here, there are people that question McCain and wonder if this is the best choice.
4) I still think teen pregnancy is NOT OK and it is really a bad idea to bring this out into the public. It is a story that will not go away.
look through your pings/posts-it’ll be there
You are wrong. You sound like a whiney limp wristed liberal. “It’s for the sake of the children” Do you know how many atrocities have been committed against parents and children in the name of the children? You can keep trying to argue with your flawed logic but God gave babies to their mothers and fathers and no one has the right to tell them that the babies deserve to be with someone else. Of course extreme circumstances such as physical or sexual abuse do require that children be removed from their parents. And by the way, adoptive children have lots of obstacles to overcome. The best thing for the child is to stay with family. Adoption should be a last resort not the first especially with a support system like this baby will have. This baby will have mother, father, aunts uncles grandparents to help.
Sarah Palin is paving the way for her daughter and grand-baby to have a better future. For that she should be applauded!
And we can’t forget that many other kids are having sex but either don’t end up pregnant or their parents hide it under the rug and send them off to an aunts house.
Again, the Palin’s deserve our support and prayers.
You are either with us or against us. It is not that hard of a choice.
How are they going to be surrounded with a loving supportive family if Palin is VP??? Palin will be in Washington, and her daughter will be in Alaska.

It’s a fact that it takes a lot of physical work to nurse. That’s why you even have to eat more because you are burning more calories. It’s a fact.
If you keep trashing Palin or her daughter, I will read and respond. Ultimately my goal is to convince you to change. If not, you can ignore me and hang around and chat with the other third party dead enders.
McCain did not make a bad choice at all, the thing bad thing about McCain is when the media uses him to make conservatives stay home. I admit that's pretty easy with McCain, too easy. But this choice puts the vast majority of conservatives in the other direction, they will be voting for Palin.
I simply cannot fathom that you are stating as fact that THIS child, this PARTICULAR child would be better off in an adoptive home. An amazingly presumptive opinion!
If the mass media, nearly all of them followers of the senator who is the farthest left of everyone in the Senate, I question their A: ability to judge what constitutes a conservative and B: motives.
I do not have thorough background information on these candidats, so I don’t know everything about them. They are just on my list of people to consider. If they don’t match up to Palin, then okay:
Females:
Meg Whitman, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Elizabeth Dole
Males:
Bobby Jindal, Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney
That’s just a first pass. I’ll probably be able to come up with more.
