The only explanation that makes sense to me right now is that nobody knew but the daughter until now.
If so, the daughter has probably had a rough couple of weeks mentally.

Gee and Ben Franklin, a Founding Father, had at least one illegitimate child. Move along people! Nothing to see here!

BIDEN'S SON IN FUND SUITThe 38-year-old son of Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden is caught up in several lawsuits regarding the acquisition and operation of Paradigm Companies, an investment firm that operates a fund of funds - a hedge fund that invests in other hedge funds.
Biden was also sued by a former Paradigm executive over alleged unpaid compensation.

Too bad all the pregnant 17 year olds in this country can't vote for McCain. He'd probably win in a land slide. All the 18-year olds, who had children when they were 17, can vote. So can the 19-year-olds. etc.

Something people without kids often dont get. Of course there are those perfect parents of perfect children who never ever do anything wrong thanks to their vigilance.I don't have kids and I get it. The ones usually claiming to have the "perfect" kids are usually the kids you can't take your eyes off of, because the second you do it looks like an F5 tornado tore through your living room and when you finally find the dog he's got PTSD.
IMO, this just makes their family human. This same situation has touched many, many families across the country. Let the MSM scream, "It's because she's a bad mom!!" and they will just rile up other families who faced similar challenges.

You can't prevent teen sexual activity and it's stupid to pretend otherwise. Sarah should have made sure Bristol was on the pill and knew about the importance of using condoms. WOW! Never thought I'd see the exact Planned Parenthood philosophy espoused on FReerepublic!

What does this have to do with anything ?
To: steve86
Not at all, but people were already questioning “who would take care of the baby?” (complete liberal hypocricy) I already saw a post on another forum stating that Palin was “too busy being governor to know what her daughter was doing”.
It’s a load of crap, but we haven’t even begun to see how ugly it’s going to get. The past few days of liberal attacks will pale in what is coming. A VP candidate who has to spend most of his/her time defending their family as opposed running the campaign is a distraction.

This is life. Bristol made a mistake, and unfortunately an all-too-common one. She will deal with the consequences. Like good parents, Todd and Sarah will be there for her. I feel for the Palins. My niece made such a mistake. To her credit she raised the baby herself with the support of her siblings and my brother and his wife. She later married a fine young man and has had another child. I hope things work out for Bristol as they did for my niece.

The Conservative Website Reaction is Extremely Important. The GOP needs to know we are still in total support of Sarah Palin. Her daughter's pregnancy is a private family matter and will have nothing to do with running the country.
PLEASE don't let the left cause a negative reaction here. They want nothing more than for Sarah to step down. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN.
A major difference between them and us is that their candidate would be punished with a grandchild; our's will be Blessed with a grandchild.

Senior McCain campaign officials said McCain knew of the daughters pregnancy when he selected Palin last week as his vice presidential running mate, deciding that it did not disqualify the 44-year-old governor in any way. Captain Queeg goes up another notch in my book. I never thought it could happen, but he has transformed himself right before our eyes.

Just saw on one of the MSM tv stations an interview with some analyst who said now that this has come out, the media will begin to vett Palin and her family to see what else McCain is hushing up.
I guess they have time now that they’re finished do the same for Obama and his family and apparently found nothing amiss.

What a tailor-made opportunity for the youth and parents of America to see how real people, possessing faith, hope and love can handle difficult decisions without resorting to the taking of a life!
To: lonevoice
If this is true, the MSM is going to crucify that poor child,The MSM would be applauding if she would abort the child. Bastards.
To: BRL
Actually, this is not a good thing. It is a statement that some of those familly values that Sarah is advancing could not even be passed along to her own kid.
So you thought Carter should have been President instead of Reagan because Amy agreed with her fathers liberalism while Patty and Ron, Jr didn't agree with their dads conservatism.
Weird.
