If I know Terry Anderson, he will not, unlike shameless, here-to-for anti-illegal alien Michelle Malkin, announce support of Juan McAmnesty. (barf!)

I am sure that he will stick to his morals. Let's see, though.

I just wish we knew more about her positions on immigration. There isn’t anything out there to speak of.

I don't think that many illegals made it up to Alaska. Why risk an unauthorized US border crossing TWICE!!? lol

We may never know.

A way might be to search if there were benefits for illegals or drivers licenses for illegals legislation in Alaska during her term and how she handled that. I would imagine, if she is the Buchananite I know her to be (along with a State Representative at the time up there), she would have opposed bennies for illegals.

Some immigration news today:

287(g) causing illegal immigrants to leave county

http://www.thetimesnews.com/news/county_17183___article.html/home_people.html

[snip]ALAMANCE COUNTY Commissioner Tim Sutton, a staunch supporter of the 287(g) program and opponent of illegal immigration, sees the deterrent effect the implementation of the program is having as a bonus.

“I honestly believe that when we signed the agreement ... I don’t think we realized the magnitude of what was going on, especially in the driving offenses,” he said.

But, he said, “If every illegal alien in our county leaves as a result of tough enforcement, I have no problem with that.” He added, “If they are leaving because they are scared of being here illegally, so be it. I don’t have a single reservation about what we are doing.”

He said it’s “ludicrous” for people to think that police should not arrest drivers who don’t have an identification, proper license or car insurance. “What do you expect us to do? ... Write a ticket and expect them to go to court?”

He continued, “A statistic that we don’t know and can’t put our hands on is the statistic of what (wrongdoings) we’ve prevented” with these arrests.

Anyone out there from New York? This came by way of California Immigration reform in an email, I haven’t verified. If true, it’s troubling.

“Subject: NYS Spanish Voter Registration Forms Have Been Compromised

Hi Everyone. For your information. August 2008. It has been brought to our attention that New York State voter registration forms in Spanish used by Nassau and Suffolk County have been compromised. In box # 1 on the form it states, “Es usted ciudadano norteamericano ?” This translates into “Are you a North American citizen ?”

The English forms ask “are you a citizen of the United States ?”

A major attempt to register foreign voters maybe at work here. This is why we should have an English only law and quick. Please contact your representatives and ask them what is going on ?”

They have checked California registration forms and they seem to be correct in spanish and English.

This is a second hand account, I don’t have a membership to Ingraham’s site to verify. I wish we knew more.

Laura Ingraham from a few months ago: “So, back to the Veepstakes. Sarah Palin: I like her. (Producer: “Babe”) Well, she is. She’s a beautiful woman, but she’s also a conservative. Her husband, I think is a shrimper? (pause) He’s a fisherman. I’m not kidding you, and they go out and fish on the weekends. He’s a commercial fisherman. I’m telling you, I think that sells. That sells a lot more than “my friends” and comprehensive immigration reform. And she’s not for comprehensive reform, I can tell you that right now. She’s sick to death of this immigration nonsense in the United States.”

More illegal alien news today:

Alameda finds record number of pot plants

http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_10286101

[snip] “Many of these outdoor grow areas are operated by Mexican drug trafficking organizations, Pontecorvo said. The garden guards are smuggled across the border and often have no idea where they are. They are told, “Grow marijuana here and we will pay you money,” Pontecorvo said.

Every couple of weeks, a “food drop” occurs where food is left a mile or two from the site, to feed the guards.

Marijuana grows also pose dangers to the public’s safety. Many of those who guard the gardens are armed, such as one man who sheriff’s deputies believe was guarding a 7,000-plant grow near the Santa Clara County border. The armed man was arrested at the grow site Aug. 12, Peterson said.

“Growers have always been armed — some of them have had no qualms in picking up a gun,” Peterson said.

Peterson said the marijuana growers can also create environmental problems. Creeks have been dammed up, water from other sources has been diverted to the gardens, and fertilizer and pesticides find their way into the waterways.

“This is a major environmental problem that is rearing its head now,” Peterson said.”

More immigration news today:

Feds raid 7 fast-food restaurants in NCCo
26 of 27 unauthorized workers from Mexico

{snip]
Immigration authorities have targeted seven Burger King restaurants in New Castle County for routinely hiring undocumented workers, according to a federal search warrant unsealed this week.

The search warrant, signed Aug. 8, indicates a magistrate judge found probable cause “for evidence of violations of immigration laws by illegal aliens” at seven franchise locations across the county.

Twenty-seven unauthorized workers, 26 from Mexico and one from El Salvador, were arrested Aug. 13, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Mike Gilhooly said. Seven men and seven women were detained, while 13 women were released for humanitarian reasons, such as being the sole caregiver for a relative, or health reasons. None of those arrested had a prior criminal record and only one had previously been deported, Gilhooly said, adding no other details about those arrested was available.

A total of 78 employees — between eight and 18 per location — suspected of illegally working at the restaurants were identified in the search warrant filed in U.S. District Court in Wilmington. The investigation is ongoing, Gilhooly said.

All seven restaurants were owned by the same franchise, according to the documents. Investigators targeted the business because it is part of a “high risk industry” for violating employment laws and has been “the subject of prior leads.”

Also this week, the largest single-site raid — at electronic transformer manufacturer Howard Industries, Inc., in Mississippi — resulted in the arrest of nearly 600 unauthorized immigrant workers.

Michael Holt, ICE Special Agent in Charge of the Office of Investigations in New Orleans, said in a statement that the operation was “part of ICE’s ongoing nationwide effort to shut down the employment magnet fueling illegal immigration. We are committed to strengthening the integrity of our nation’s immigration system.”

Gonzalez said it’s no surprise raids have intensified.

“As long as comprehensive immigration reform is not passed, the situation will not improve,” she said. “I don’t see how else this is going to be solved.”

Hogan said the local raids are part of a larger, nationwide enforcement strategy.

“The jails are full of people waiting for deportation; the immigration courts are full with more cases that will result in even more deportation orders,” he said. “Perhaps this is part of big push, politically speaking, to set the table for another attempt at comprehensive immigration reform during the next congress. After all, even with all of the recent arrests, the illegal immigration issue still is as big as ever.”

It is a mixed bag on Gov. Palin. I did all the sleuthing I could on her as Governor in the context of this issue. And the results are a mixed, if not vague, bag

Perhaps the following could be useful for Terry's show:

a) She has no formally adopted position on illegal immigration

b) She was a supporter of Pat Buchanan -- of course who is SOLID on border integrity

c) Alaska is one of ELEVEN states in the United States to grant drivers licenses to Illegal aliens

d) She apparantly stated to Laura Ingraham that she was against comprehensive immigration reform

e) A Mexican consulate is slated for opening in Alaska (although she will have little to do with that).

It seems to me the best thing to do is write her on it. Or, better yet, access a journalist to, on the campaign trail, pose the question. And that question would be:

"Mrs. Palin, if you had been a sitting Senator in Congress at the time Mr. McCain pushed Comprehensive Immigration Reform, would you have voted for this legislation or against it?"

The question does need to be posed.

Trust, but verify folks.

Let us establish her position. If she waffles on it now, out of fear of coming out against her boss, we can have almost no hope of her being an influence on him as VP. This could be the acid test, better get it over with soon. However, if she sticks to her guns and says "I differ with John on this", I will have some respect for her position.

Quick. Some enterprising conservative (or even liberal) reporter on the campaign trail with Sarah Palin who is lurking here, PLEASE pose this red-meat, deal-breaker question!!!
