Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden received five student draft deferments during the Vietnam War, the same number of deferments received by Vice President Dick Cheney, and later was disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager.
Additional deferments were granted in roughly 12-month intervals, the last coming in January 1968, shortly before he graduated from law school at Syracuse University

The regular folks didn’t get “student deferments” for going to law school. And medical deferments were never given AFTER a person had a student deferment & graduated.
Happened to a friend of mine. He was deaf in one ear but never bothered to apply for a medical deferment because he had a student deferment (he fooling thought the war was notgoing to last that long, at that time). When he graduated (4 year degree, NOT law school) and applied for a medical deferment he was denied, told he should have gotten
BTW, he was pre-med, not pre-law and had been accepted to medical school. Guess he didn’t have the same friends as old Joe. We must have needed another lawyer more than we needed another doctor.
They still took me; they just put me on a submarine.
I fit in just fine!
Once he was in law school, the deferments continued until you washed out or graduated.
Remember, in 1966 people weren't all that mad about the war ~ the Democrats were screwing it up, but the MSM didn't care.
When Nixon got elected the Democrats got mad ~ and they've stayed mad ever since ~ guess they felt they didn't get enough screwing up in the Nam.
Their record is bad enough without telling fibs about Biden. His record is bad enough, he can't stand the truth anyway.
Did you know Biden's brain is rotting away?
People didn't ordinarily get taken into the military with serious disabilities.
Cheney got married. They discovered his collapsing artery problem later. I have no doubt he’d have died on the first day of Army Basic Training.
“Parents don’t “send” “kids” off to war. They turn 18 and join themselves.”
Obviously, that’s correct. I misspoke, or rather miswrote. I meant “send” in the sense that, she gave him a “sendoff”. From her speech last week, it’s obvious she approved wholeheartedly and that he left with her blessings.
Pay special attention to 3:13 of this video so you can catch the very emphatic movement of her head when she says around 3:20 that her son joined the U.S. Army:

That’s the attitude I was referring to.
I don’t see the conspiracy you do but I’m also aware that Draft Boards were subject to who you knew that could help you. He was born, 11-20-42, graduated 06-65, married in 08-66. That is why I detailed my experience because my time of graduation to physical call was over a yr from when I graduated. Anyway there maybe something there and I’m sure some will chase it down if it is.
I am most proud to have a father who was NOT “susceptible to political and other pressures.”
Before he was on the draft board, he served. While he was on the draft board, my brother, his son, served; and I, his daughter, served.
What about Obama's records? Did he register for the draft? If so, when?
It is required for federal student loans and for federal employment.
Is it also required of elected officials? Inquiring minds want to know...
I remember registering, in 1982. I was 18 that year. Obama was 18 in 1979. He SHOULD have registered.
