I don’t share the enthusiasm for Palin that many on Free Republic do. I think her choice was a weak attempt to pander to female voters with no regard as to her qualifications to assume the presidency should McCain be unable to complete his term. Frankly, I doubt whether the majority of Americans are ready to have such an inexperienced woman one heartbeat away from the presidency, especially when there are other, better choices within the Republican Party.
To me, Palin’s choice practically guarantees an Obama/Biden victory in November. The Democrats will carry (moving roughly from west to east) Hawaii, California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, Rhode Island, Virginia, the District of Columbia and Florida. It’s also possible North Carolina and Louisiana will go to the democrats. On election night, if Virginia, North Carolina and Florida go early for the Democrats, you can go to bed knowing the landslide has begun.
You are wrong. Sarah Palin is exactly what John McCain needed. We now have hope again
He may have chosen her to get some of the women’s vote and expecially to tear away some Harpy voters so what? I have wanted Palin for 2 mos since she is the perfect pick for the energy issue. She is being massively Misunderestimated and that is normal.
You don’t need 20 yrs in the District of Corruption to lead this Country. She is a reformer with no Corruption which is a breath of fresh air. Her Conservative credentials are by far the best candidate out there. The landslide you speak of will be on our side when this is done.
Pray for W, Palin and Our Troops
I’ll take Palin as President over Obama or Biden.
You seem to be a troll with the desire to sabotage every Sarah Palin post. You only need to post your drivel once, not in every thread. At least try to say something different rather than taking the lazy way and cutting and pasting.
I share your concerns. Nothing wrong with Palin, but it's all about electoral math and her selection doesn't really change it. She may do nothing more than attract a larger share of the popular vote in states like New York and California, where McCain is going to lose anyway.
You have cut and pasted the same reply on 7 threads today. We get it, you don’t like Palin. Try posting something new though.
I believe that Sarah Palin is the first woman that male, “I’ll never vote for a woman” voters WILL vote for. And not because she’s beautiful; because she’s tough. She stood against Murkowski. She’s not squeamish. She’s thrifty. She has integrity.
The majority of our friends are Marine and Navy Officers around and above their 20 year marks. They absolutely *love* Sarah Palin - because she genuinely respects, loves and WILL care for our military and their families. Because she wants to lessen our reliance on foreign oil. This is important to our military!
My dh grew up in Wilmington, and there is no way on earth he will vote for a ticket with Biden. No way.
coulndt disagree with you more
read the thread and article “Sarah Works” and you will get a better perspective
otherwise you just sound like a CNN commentator or DNC troll
go back to DU or Daily Kooks if so
I have been unenthuised about McCain.....Sarah Palin has energized me....I have donated, got my yard sign and bumper sticker on the way ...and I am studying for my talking points when I get out there for her! You may not be thrilled but don’t rain on our parade....she is the best news since hunter and thompson were still in this......
Your analysis it 180 off.
None of the other conventional VP choices would have excited the base at all. None.
They were all leftovers and rejects and compromises. All.
All except the purely wierd and bizarre choices like Lieberman (a very likable guy even when in disagreement).
She has already energized the base in ways that none of the others could have.
Had McCain picked anyone else I would never consider voting for his ticket.
Forget for a moment that Palin is a woman. Her credentials are more solidly Conservative than any of the others.
Her life mirrors her claims.
Her lack of Washington experience also means she isn’t tainted, she truly can be an agent of change, and that she isn’t part of the problem (even McCain can’t make that claim!).
She earned her position as a party outsider and has the tools to do it again.
Now consider that she is a woman. She is nearly the ideal Conservative/Republican woman and wife and the exact opposite of the Lib/Dem womanly ideal.
Think on it from a move of strength instead of weakness.
It is a brilliant move.
I share the enthusiasm with all Freepers in good standing for zotting sleeper trolls.
After watching McCain on the Sunday morning Fox Interview .,,,I believe McCain chose her because of her reform efforts as the Governor of Alaska.....
