When Sarah Palin stepped into the spotlight as John McCains running mate in Dayton, Ohio, and promised that women could shatter that glass ceiling once and for all, it was an electrifying moment in a presidential election that had already produced its share of upsets and surprises.
History was on the march again the morning after Barack Obama became the first African-American to accept his partys White House nomination. After the fireworks, the 80,000-strong crowd who had cheered Obama to the skies at the Mile High stadium in Denver woke up with a hangover.
We may be seeing the first woman president. As a Democrat, I am reeling, said Camille Paglia, the cultural critic. That was the best political speech I have ever seen delivered by an American woman politician. Palin is as tough as nails.
With her beehive hairdo and retro specs, Palin, 44, has a naughty librarian vibe, according to Craig Ferguson, the Scottish comedian who stars on late-night US television. However, the selection of Palin, the governor of Alaska and a mother of five, as the first female Republican vice-presidential nominee is no joke for the Democrats.
Rush Limbaugh, the conservative radio chat show host, exulted, Were the ones with a babe on the ticket one, moreover, with a reputation as a tax-cutter and corruption buster in her job as the first woman governor of Alaska.
Palins selection on the eve of the Republican convention in St Paul, Minnesota, has set the stage for an epic battle for the votes of women, African-Americans, evangelical Christians and the young. The demographic wars that dominated the contest between Obama and Hillary Clinton are now set to be replicated in the national election.

Go Sarah! I just wish she was at the top of the ticket.

You know you’re an undercover conservative, Camille.
Sarah is a wonderful pick. Each of her attributes are great.
I bet she’s studying all day!
I betcha Sarah is the also girl of Bill and Hillary’s dreams. (in their own separate ways - if you know what I mean)
Id make a bet but there is no way to confirm it, the whole Clinton clan will pull the repug lever in November. Im positive in the privacy of the voting booth that is exactly what they will do.
Here's Sarah in her 'naughty librarian' role
LMAO! That was funny. I love Craig Ferguson.
I think a qualified woman should be on almost every ticket. Heck, they are half the country, and yet NEVER in the history of the US has a woman held the position of President or Vice-President. In fact, in 232 years they have only been nominated TWICE (Ferraro and Palin). Kind of shameful, don’t you think?
Stick a fork in him and call him toast.
Very shameful...
Amen to that. I have 4 sons and I KNOW how much of a difference a conservative mother has made in their lives. Thank the Lord for mothers like Sarah Palin.
Amen. I totally agree.
appears to be a good story, but it aggravates me that the msm and dumocrats is being repeated to the point of ridiculousness
some of the homes are condos, the relatives live in
mccain is not involved in the hensley business, it is cindy that owns them
what is much bigger problem of not recalling is obama’s story of sitting in the racist reverend’s wright’s rhetoric for 2o years and not remember any of it being said
thinking there are 57 states
She’s not, because she’s already married.
