A friendan educated, extremely successful executive who has spent her entire career in a male-dominated industryI was talking to about McCains pick of Sarah Palinhad a different take on the pick than mine: Im tired of old white men appointing women who arent qualified just because they think that will appease women. It happens all the time in my business.
So, McCain may not be thinking like a CEO , but it looks like hes thinking like a lot of bosses who tap people who dont have the goods.
Potential is one thing; proven ability is another.
Within minutes, another friend (also a successful female in a very male-dominated field) called me indignant about what she calls Palins utter lack of qualifications.
It's frustrating, disappointing, and demoralizing when people get selected for promotions, jobs, or any kind of position that they didn't earn on the merits of their accomplishments. And it happens for lots of different reasons.
And it seems to have happened here with Sarah Palin.
It's not that I think her former stints as a Miss Alaska contestant and a sports journalist disqualify her. It's that I don't think being mayor of a tiny town and a governor with less than two years of experience qualifies her. How many times have you seen someone get a job they don't have the qualifications for? Has it ever happened to you? And do you think she's qualified?

Notice the headline "...Disqualify her for the wrong reasons"?
Implicit assertion is that the Obama faithful shouldn't lose their talking points about the "right" reasons to disqualify her.
Anyway, I googled the author to see what sort of a journalist builds a political story around the coffee klatsch comments of a couple of anonymous, liberal voting, like minded girlfriends.
Surprise! Turns out Business Week's political commentator is a celebrity hag from a supermarket tabloid!

It sure nails McCain's point about Obama/Brittney, same difference.
Like Obama?
Excellent work, disassembling the article and being prepared for questions!
Palin has accomplished more in her 1.5 year as Governor than Obama has in his whole life. More even than some two term Governors.
No doubt about the reporter’s qualifications, though — she’s on the Obama wagon and typing straight from the talking points.
Business Week is the business equivalent of People Magazine and Money is the National Enquirer. In this case, I’d follow the advice of former DNC treasurer Andrew Tobias and stick with Forbes and Barron’s.
read the article, however “that black boy” as was very recently referred to by that most brilliant Jimmy Carter is more than amply qualified with his limited experience.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
If that frustrates you, don’t look at Obama’s life story...it’s a story of affirmative action rather than toe to toe competition...and when he did have toe to toe competition, he worked behind the scenes to disqualify the competition or work open vote intimidation tactics in caucus states. Talk about unqualified and greasing his way into each higher station...
You’re working on the theory that these women actually exist. The tabloids make up “insiders” whenever they need a quote to back up their dubious stories. In this case I suspect it is same technique, different magazine.
I’m tired of women executives without talent or leadership skills thinking they should be given choice opportunities or advancement because they have seniority. I see it every day in my line of work.

20 years as a US Senator or Congressman with skills like being bought off by lobbyists, not showing up half the time to even vote, calling in souped up baseball players to rat each other out, and calling our Marines murderers with no evidence at all?
Sorry, I don't like those.
I’ve never had a problem worrking with and for women, two of whom have been the best and worst bosses (respectively) I’ve ever come across.
After Margaret Thatcher, how could any intelligent person put the slightest weight on XX or XY chromosones?
Palin has two more years of experience in an executive branch of government than Obama, who has none.
The same could be said about Obama, just exchange “blacks” with “women” but I’m pretty sure that they would never say that out loud.
“Obama, America’s Affirmative Action Choice”

None are qualified because they do not intend to uphold property right, and they intentionally try to subvert our heritage and institutions at every opportunity.
I wonder how her friend feels about affirmative action for minorities and candidates that get a free pass on experience because of their shade.
They already did.
Cheers!
Come to think of it...
Two more slogans.
PBS has PMS.
CBS has PDS.
Cheers!
