John McCain's decision to yank little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin from the obscurity of the great northern tundra and dub her his running mate had Silicon Valley Democrats and even some Republicans scratching their heads Friday.
A brilliant end-run around opponent Barack Obama's mantra of change? A blatant attempt to throw a tantalizing bone to Hillary Clinton's more disgruntled female supporters?
"Who's she?" asked Democrat and former San Jose Mayor Susan Hammer. "I don't know what McCain's motives are, but I can't imagine any Hillary supporters supporting a conservative like Palin. She's pro-life and it seems she'd oppose virtually everything Hillary talked about during the campaign."

Timing was brilliant though. The only thing I’ve heard about BO’s speech is a couple of supporters who were mad that no one was talking about it.
The only people PUZZLED about McCains pick are the kool-aid drinkers of the radical left. No one else is. Nice try Mercury. Just more pathetic liberal attempts at demonization of a fantastic VP selection by McCain.
The media is busy establishing the template - unknown, inexperienced, eccentric, blah blah. They know damn well who she is.

Go to Hillary’s offical website and read the forum comments. These are longtime Hillary supporters who have posted thousands of posts on her forum and they love Palin. It seems they’re more concerned about a woman breaking the glass ceiling than they are on certain social positions. Plus, they absolutely hate Obama and feel they’ve been betrayed by the DNC.

News flash, California. It’s not all about you.
The visceral ANGER expressed in the rapid-response talking heads on the left says it all. They’ve been had and they know it. They had targets on all the “expected” picks, had them set up like bowling pins and were ready to roll strike after strike. She is anassailable and they are as frustrated as a pack of dogs yapping at a porcupine because it is so well defended.
Intuitively, one would expect the opposition to be celebrating if the pick were weak. No. We get visceral anger and knitted, furrowed brows? Yes! Good one, Johnny!
