Saw this, it was great. Cokie kept a straight face but you could tell she thought Weir was being a hypocritical tool. Her assessment overall of McCain picking Palin I felt was spot-on. And she also pointed out what the liberal MSM pinheads can’t grasp. McCain did not chose Palin to draw radical feminists irate about Hillary. Those will not come over anyway. The core benefit to McCain by picking Palin is that she shores up the base big-time. And the crossover appeal for Palin is to Reagan Dems - it isn’t all gender driven. This segment is worth a watch.

no mention that palin’s got a husband that likes his kids.

and, like other people of their station, they have the resources to hire qualified help.

"the Palin family also has an infant with special needs. What leads you, the senator and the governor to believe that one won't affect the other in the next couple of months?"

PALIN needs to be pre-emptive on this, and issue some statement to the effect of, "Recently several media figures have raised the old attack line against women by inferring that I cannot hold a job and tend to the needs of my family at the same time. I thought we were past that, and American women should be outraged at the implication. However, since these media MEN seem to be volunteering, I will gladly accept their offer to come to the Vice President's residence and help out after I move in. There are some old clothes that need to be put away and a little ironing."

Reagan Bush 84 were smart enough not to gang up on Geraldine.

Kudos to Cokie, I must admit, I didn’t think any democrats were bright enough to realize that.

the son going into the military

No, her son is IN the military, infantry, not JAG, by the way. How did thay miss the statement that he enlisted on September 11, 2007? That is a significant day of the year for most Americans, as much as the DBM tries to suppress it from our memories. He is going to Iraq soon.

Since GWB's two years of active duty in the TANG didn't count in the last two elections, maybe being in the military doesn't count this time unless you are in Iraq...to the DBM.

Progressive want to turn back the clock to the 1930's -- or 1970's at the latest.
Democrats want to place their vote based on the color of a man's skin.
Feminists want women to stay at home with their babies rather than become leaders.

We live in an amazing world.

Isn't this just a perfect example of whats wrong with liberalism. Forget that this is about someone running for VP for a moment.

Here is Sarah Palin and her husband, a pair of grown, intelligent Americans who have made a decision to take a certain path with their lives. Doubtless they have thought it out, thought about how they will deal with the schedule that path, probably made accommodations for the same. And without a doubt, any couple making such a decision would have to consider if they thought they would be able to accommodate the needs of their children, including the child in question.

And yet, somehow its not enough for this guy. He needs to get in there and decide if they are adequately handling their own affairs, impose his judgment and suggests that he, miles away from the situation and without any intimate knowledge of the workings of their family, knows better than they do, and is considering it from a more intelligent perspective, and has decided that they don't know what the hell they are doing.

This is whats wrong with the media, and what is wrong with government. The correct answer, and the one I sure wish McCain's guy would have given, was “that is none of your damn business. And for that matter, neither is child care in general, except as it applies to YOUR children”.

Media and Democrats. Birds of a feather.

The MSM Republican-baashing surrogates over at DU(mp)[tm] are busily mining the internet for "proof" that Gov. Palin's newborne baby boy is actually her daughter's out of wedlock offspring.

Gotta love their misplaced enthusiasm and efforts. One mention of this on PMSNBC or the Clinton News Network and a redacted copy of the tests from last December that confirmed that soon to be newborn Trig would have Down syndrome should be worth 1 to 2 polling points for the COUNTRY FIRST team.

Cokie related, in a book or article many years ago, that when her daughter was born (over 30 years ago) she had a job that she loved and needed and had her mother come and take care of the baby when she was 2 weeks old. Her mother sniffed, “at two weeks old, she should still be in the hospital.” Cokie replied, take her to the hospital if you like but I am going to work.
