Denver - THE country is at war. The economy is in shambles. The Republican Party is weaker than it has been in decades. So whom does John McCain choose as his vice presidential nominee? A former beauty queen turned governor from Alaska.
Think the 47-year-old Barack Obama is too inexperienced to be president? Mr. McCain says the 44-year-old Sarah Palin, who has two years fewer of experience as governor than Mr. Obama has as a senator from Illinois, is up to the job.
Concerned that Americans do not know enough about Mr. Obama, who spent part of his childhood overseas and went to private school in Hawaii? Ms. Palin is a total unknown who also hails from a noncontiguous state, one most people know only from watching Animal Planet. And that state is steeped in corruption and oil money. Its senior senator is under indictment. They try to build bridges to nowhere there. What on earth was Mr. McCain thinking?
Heres what: The only way for him to win this election is to break with the national Republican Party. Mr. McCain needs to recast the party in his own image: anticorruption, pro-reform and fiscally and socially conservative.
In recent weeks, Republican strategists have urged Mr. McCain to run against the Democrats who control Congress. But that isnt enough for Mr. McCain. By picking Ms. Palin, he has signaled that he will campaign against the Republicans in Congress, too.

Sure. sure. Tomorrow. Yeah, whatever.
This has completely unhinged them.

Looks like Matthew is INContinetti over this.
Cripes, what a raving windbag. This passes for journalism? More like the ravings of a 5 year old.
A supposed news media that couldn’t find anything negative in Obama’s past in the months leading up to his nomination has gone totally negative on Palin.
To put it succinctly, they stink.
The economy is in shambles. No kidding. The soup line where we all have to eat now has only wiener-water soup. Everyone in town is unemployed, and we've all lost our houses. The last job in town moved to China yesterday. |
Unhinged is right. LOL. This guy (?) is totally hysterical. Liberals are so funny when they’re in a losing position. McCain’s pick is giving him the vapors, I do believe. I love it!
Between Mr Continetti's rant, the cheering of the Hillary bloggers, rave reviews from the FR Bang List and the two SF lesbians on the local news saying that they are voting McCain, this election cycle just got a lot more fun.
0 Man, you have a problem. (That's a zero btw.)
Checkmate?
Home run?
Knockout punch?
Inside straight against two pair?
Thinking that he just handed Obama's ass back to him on a platter?
Love watching the MSM and DNC in high panic mode
Yes, as was posted on another thread, the selection of Sarah Palin, got the expected “knee jerk” response from the Dems and the MSM.
Now, come tomorrow they have to look in the mirror and realize that the faults they find with Palin are x2 when you look at O-man.
I wonder if they will then (1) begin to do the job of the media and explore O-man or (2) hush their lips.
LOL
Darn those soup lines. And to think that Sarah Palin just passed every resident of Alaska an oil and gas bonus of $1200.00!!
Go figure? The Slimes is losing it.
AND they are not going to be able to cast Sarah Palin as an unknown, like their precious Obama. I’ve already learned enough about her to have a darned good idea who she is. Obama is still a zero that we know nothing about, and he’s still hiding things.
By the way, haven’t seen anyone mention this, although I may have just missed it. But he was going to have Michelle and Grandma as his advisors. Just where WAS Grandma during the convention? The families are usually shown on camera. I didn’t see Grandma, or hear anything mentioned about her, although admittedly I could only stand to watch very little of it.
the Karaoke (AP/NYT/WaPo/ABCNNBcBS/pBS/FauxNC) Journalists are @ it again.
Makes her two years older than another "governor for just 2 years" who seemed to cope fairly well with the transition from VP to President in the first year of his term.
“The economy is in shambles.”
The economy is growing at 3.3%. Things could be a whole lot better, but shambles? I’m just old enough to (barely) remember the Carter years. My family lived on spaghetti dinners three nights a week. My dad had four jobs close up under him in three years. Our heating bills were killing us and the President told us to lower the thermostat and put on a sweater. THAT was a shambles, Mr. Continetti.
Sometimes, I just want to smack these people. I really do.
This entire article is full of horse pucky.
Mayor is an executive office. Governor is an executive office.
I’m thinking more like a losing in the top of the ninth then hitting a 3-run homerun to take the lead by two runs and win the game... choice.
I do believe that the New Jerk Slimes is Stuck Way Beyond Stoopid.
My big reservation on T.R. was his push for nationalized healthcare.
Other than that, I’d love to see a modern-day Theodore Roosevelt.
