Once again, noticably missing is any mention of the Illegal Alien problem.
I've been searching for her views on it - can't find anything yet. But, in reality, it doesn't matter. If the #1 spot on the ticket is for amnesty, the #2 spot won't change that.
I think we have a lot of premature exhilaration going on here before the facts are in. People want to stand behind a candidate against Obama so bad, they're not stopping to think. And Palin is a cut above McCain, experience or not, BUT she's not on the top of the ticket, so it doesn't really matter (unless he drops dead in Feb '09).

I would beg to differ with your assessment as to how much it matters.
This gives her almost a lock on being the next GOP nominee for President, I want that person to be strongly against Amnesty or the GOP does not get my vote this year.
Abortion, Amnesty, and Global Warming are together my "line in the sand" with respect to the GOP and the support I give them.

Palin could well be heading the ticket in 2012, and running against Hillary. I will put up with 4 years of McCain for a chance to keep Barry and Hillary both out of the WH.

BUT she's not on the top of the ticket, so it doesn't really matter (unless he drops dead in Feb '09). Or anytime in the next few years.
If that should occur, I think she's smart enough to pick someone with more military and foreign policy knowledge as the replacement VP. Duncan Hunter maybe? :)

Well, it’s like this ... we cannot change the top of the ticket. But this pick shows that we can alter the trajectory. Think 2012. McCain is doing what GWB and Cheney should have done in 2004 or 2005. Take steps to ensure a quality candidate is in the wings. I love Dick Cheney and it is comforting to know he is there, but they left us in the lurch (npi) with a free-for-all primary. Palin will make a great 45th President if all indications are correct. And we’ll have plenty of time to know if that is true.

Actually, the choice, and the way it was executed, right down to McCains video last night, is what suddenly made me a McCain supporter.
For me, this is only partly about Palin. It says a lot about McCain and his capabilities and “style”.
That is why he now has my vote.
