BUT she's not on the top of the ticket, so it doesn't really matter (unless he drops dead in Feb '09).

If that should occur, I think she's smart enough to pick someone with more military and foreign policy knowledge as the replacement VP. Duncan Hunter maybe? :)

Foreign policy and relations are people relations writ large. Sarah has a 80+% approval rating in Alaska.

Sarah will be able to handle foreign policy just fine and as you say, she'll look for informed advisers as needed.
