refocus the entire campaign away from Obama’s status as a political neophyte

If done right it will gloriously highlight Hussein's inexperience. Palin is far superior in experience to the top of the Democrat ticket. A campaign ad could be a comparison of alternatingcitations of Palin's experience and Hussein's experience. The other person on the Democrat ticket doesn't even count and should be ignored.

>>>One county does not an election make.

You are correct. But that is NOT what I said.

"I got the county print outs from my state."

Thanks. Your problem with McCain is the POW issue, I am a little familiar with that one. But that still doesn’t explain why you won’t accept a woman President.

A leader of the Presidential magnitude, should be someone strong. That means for the Vice Presidential position too.

Ironically, and almost exactly to the date, I said the same thing about Palin here:

How do you feel about Queen Elizabeth I? Would the Spanish think her tough enough?

Judging by Jimmy Carter, John Kerry and Barry Obama, being male does not necessarily make you tough. Judging by Maggie Thatcher and even an evil witch like Hillary, being female does not make you weak, when you are wielding nuclear weapons and aircraft carriers and are not afraid to use them. I would not rule out a woman for that role. I understand your position. We'll just have to disagree.

I wasn’t asking you to agree. I do not live in England. I did not vote for Kerry or Carter. Nor am I alone in my opinion.

I decided that I could live with shamnesty, as long as he doesn’t destroy the economy with the “cap and trade” idiocy he got from Gore.

We can get by without ANWR for a decade or so, if they open up the coastal areas.

Not that I even remotely trust him on his flip-flop to allow coastal drilling, because he NEVER really changes his mind on anything once he has decided... But that is one campaign promise he might just have to keep, despite what he really wants.

I still think that only against the absolutely worst democrat empty-suit marxist nominee in history would McCain stand a snowball’s chance in hades, but his pick of Palin has given me the first slight hope for the future that I have had since Fred! wussed out and Hunter couldn’t get the time of day from anyone but us hardcore conservative political junkies..

Since this old thread is still going, I'll repeat this here:

ABSOLUTELY TRUE STORY:

I went out to lunch late this afternoon, and I overheard (couldn't avoid it; they were standing right next to me and talking loudly):

"Thats a fine, saucy lookin'; filly. I'll bet she could win this race just standing still, looking like she does in that picture."

My first thought was, of course, given the events of the day, that he was referring to Sarah Palin.

.
.
.
I later took a look at the newspaper he was pointing to, and it turned out to be a local horse entered in the upcoming "Worlds Richest Horse Race,_ the All-American Futurity.

But I wasn't at all embarrassed at my mistake; it was the most natural of assumptions.

Later, at the barbershop, I regaled the guys with some of the details about Ms. Palin, and they were pretty enthused about her, and agreed with me that they didn't think McCain had it in him to pick ANY sort of conservative, much less someone like her.
(IE: strong personality, NOT a RINO or Dem. Senate Fraternity buddy).

I think you are far fewer than you imagine. Maybe you hang out in a circle of like-minded individuals. In any event, we disagree, granting that you have not sought my agreement. I have not sought your either, just your reasoning, such as it is.

I hope you are right; but I don’t think you can grasp the circles I’m plugged in to. And they are vital votes.

I believe if you check out Palin’s record you will be impressed then. It is one of the things that really excited me about this selection. She beat ‘em, and this was just comin’ out of the gate. Rack up her accomplishments compared to Hillary and Obama. It is no contest. They are not even in her league.

Couldn’t disagree more. The experience thing is nice to talk about, but ultimately people don’t care if you don’t have that much experience. How much experience did Lincoln have? The reason I’m not voting for Obama is not because he’s inexperienced, it’s because he’s a Communist. The reason Obama hasn’t pulled away isn’t because of lack of experience, it’s because he’s an elitist, arrogant snob, and Americans don’t like stuck-up snobs. Ask John Kerry.

McCain injected some energy into his campaign, and there’s almost no downside. The “she has no experience” BS the Democrats are throwing is a loser, because 1) she on the bottom of the ticket, and 2) Obama has just as little experience. She energizes the base, as her conservative credentials are apparently stronger than McCain’s, and we figure she might be on the national stage for many years to come.

She appeals to the disaffected woman, Hillary voters. Not all Hillary voters are rabid leftists, many voted for her strictly because she’s a woman. Some of these will cross over just because of Palin. It’s a masterstroke by McCain. I have absolutely no use for McCain, and had planned not to vote for him. However, if he governs as well as he’s running this campaign, maybe he wouldn’t be such a horrible President.

True, but Hamilton’s preliminary round performance was a clinic. Just like today’s speech.

I’ve heard someone describe Sarah as “Reagan in a skirt.”

My nickname of choice - “the heiress.”

Biden better bring his “A” game to the VP debate. Sarah won’t just beat him. She’ll make him look bad and have a charming smile on her face as she does it. Just like the Gipper did.

Understand what I am beginning to see:

Official Washington, as well as the entire Democratic Commentariat and their Media Lapdogs are not getting Palin the way they didn't get Reagan.

This is important to understand. You have to think of Palin the way you thought of Reagan in, say, 1964. "At the Beginning". Reagan was a man of genuine conviction and depth, and something tells me after watching Palin's interview on CNBC tonight, that she is of the same material. I suspect McCain sized her up and struck gold.

So they put her down and call her "inexperienced" and "unqualified", not understanding that once she rolls out and starts speaking, her genuineness and her inner steel will wipe away all doubts.

I am convinced of this, and have been ever since the buzz about her began this morning. There is the air of Reagan about her; and only because Reagan himself was a showman whose showmanship was totally authentic.

Her enemies do not understand that the key to Sarah Palin is her authenticity, and authenticity is the key to this election.

We will look back, years hence, the way we look back on Reagan's Time for Choosing speech in 1964 on this day as the Beginning. Trust me on this. This woman has come out of nowhere and she will change the Republican Party.
