Everytime I see Thompson, I get a twinge of “what could have been.”
Watching Law & Order re-run last night. There was Fred, scotch in hand, and suddenly I was lost in thought about a Thomspon/Cantor ticket.
Oh well.

The only better ticket would have been Thompson/Palin 2008.

“I am absolutely delighted by this selection. Once again, John McCain has shown that he is an independent thinker who paints in bold strokes. Sarah Palin is a conservative reformer with executive experience who will bring a breath of fresh air to Washington. She will be an ideal running mate for John McCain, and will make a major contribution to our country’s future.”

I totally agree

Go Fred Go!
I am happy about Palin as veep too. However, I am very unhappy about the multiple reports of Freeper men crying in joy over this, and even more unhappy about the multiple use of the word “fabulous”......are we going gay or what?.........:)

First impression, I like Gov. Palin and what I've read of her bio. FDT giving the thumbs up seals the deal for me. I like the timing as well. Would have been rude to announce during the big O's speech..nice that McCain gave us this morsel to enjoy over the holiday weekend!
Even Gustav and his lil friend Hanna can't ruin my fun this weekend...got good news on the election front and COLLEGE FOOTBALL KICKING OFF! Roll TIDE ROLL!

This is soooooooo great!
Watching her talk today, I was very impressed by how she spoke--I never even noticed her glance at notes, or anything. She seemed to be speaking straight from the heart, and didn't have to rely on a written speech, that I could tell.
Of course her conservative views were almost overwhelming after what we have had to listen to for way to long.
Like others here, I'm now pumped about this election. And by the way--ole McCain really put the ice on the Dims blathering, contrived convention, didn't he!

She delivered a flawless acceptance speech. It seemed extemporaneous, which is really hard to do.
She has a media background to go along with small business, mayoral, gubernatorial, and MATERNAL executive experience.
After watching a few MSM channels, Im amazed at how much the media dislikes women. B. Husseins camp, the same that rejected a woman, Hillary, and a camp that believes women should be in burkhas, because thats Obamas islamic background coming out, has IMMEDIATELY attacked Palin, a clearly qualified woman.
The TRUTH is that Obama has zero executive experience and very little higher level experience at all. This woman has been a Governor and a mayor, all while being a mom, running a family, and being part of a family business.
The last I checked the 200 mile international sea treaty boundaries mean that Alaska, Russia, and Canada share issues involving international fishing. (Add Japan into that for good measure.)
Any governorship is significant. It is an executive position, and Id be cautious attacking this woman if I were the dems.
I think she hit a home run with her acceptance speech. Shes a very, very good public speaker. I could feel the dems shaking in their boots

Lest we miss the point in the hoopla, Sarah Palin will be the First Female President--in 2012--if McCain/Palin wins in '08. She has what it takes, from this poster's perspective. Palin's values are one of the biggest threats to democrat empowerment that has ever arisen from the Republican camp ... Sarah bringing Trig into this world and being thankful for him is only the start of the democrat insideous bitterness. And the sycophantic media whoredom will do everything they can to hide that bitterness, just as we at FR will be doing all we can to expose it.
The next two months will be an opportunity to promote American values that Freerepublic was conceived for, if I don't miss my guess about you, Jim. Thank you for FreeRepublic.com.
