As a nurse who has worked for years with disabled and challenged children... I can tell you that 99% of their Moms worked full-time and overtime to keep the family running. There are nurses (like myself) and nannies who are trained specifically to deal with this sort of situation. They travel, live-in or whatever the parents need....and that gives the parent(s) an opportunity to spend quality time with their special needs child.

Excellent point, Lainey. I hope that between now and election you'll pipe up whenever necessary when the critics pull this stuff about Sarah not being a good mother re: her special needs child.

Your experience is the voice of authority in these special situations. Don't be afraid of repeating yourself.

It's amazing we always have freepers experienced and eloquent in just about any field one can think of when the rest of us need professional information.
