McCain appears set to name Palin as running mate (FR exclusive analysis)
August 29, 2008 | xjcsa

Based on a couple of key pieces of evidence uncovered by others (h/t to Truthseeker at Draft Sarah Palin), it appears nearly certain that John McCain is set to announce Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. This evidence has also been noted by Kathryn Jean Lopez at the Corner and in a few posts here on FR, although I have not seen both pieces noted together.

So what's this evidence? Flight tracking information from two separate chartered flights.

One of these flights started in Anchorage and flew nonstop to Hook Field Municipal Airport (MWO) in Middletown, Ohio, less than 30 miles from where McCain is to make his first appearance with his running mate. The other airplane also started in Anchorage two days ago, but flew first to Flagstaff, Arizona (near McCain's home in Sedona), and then on to the same airport in Middletown, Ohio (with fuel stops along the way in Seattle and Amarillo).

This is too much for coincidence - it appears certain that Sarah Palin and her family were flown separately to Ohio for the big event. Most likely Palin was on the flight that stopped overnight in Flagstaff and her family was flown on the nonstop flight yesterday.

It's not 100%, but I'd call it something like 98% - Sarah Palin appears to be the pick.

So if Biden gets aggressive during their debate, will the MSM accuse him of being a big meanie man like they did Lazio in his Hillary debate? I’m thinking no.

Intrade is normally a leading indicator because

... it's not a leading indicator. It's not an efficient market, for whatever reason. Intrade has absolutely no record of predicting anything that isn't already public knowledge. A poll is published with X leading a state. Then Intrade swings toward that candidate. It's silly.

I’m thinking it might be a good idea. Not sure yet. But, Bob Beckel looked like he was going to throw up!

Intrade is showing that McCain’s team is doing a masterful job of driving the news....

Her history of fighting corruption would be a God-send!

Does this mean that the MSM wouldn’t like her. They don’t seem to care much for honest, uncorruptible types.

Are you a democrat plant? The vile and rudeness you have shown this morning is absolutely amazing. Maybe you would feel better over on DU.

"If it’s Sarah Palin, and she’s got 5 children, who’s going to be taking care of those children, including the one just born with Down’s Syndrome, while she is busy being VP. So much for motherly love."

The same person who is doing it while she is governor, HER HUSBAND!

Maybe you should raise your expectations about men, lady!

Oh great, a househusband. Well, there is one good thing that might come out of this. She wants to open up ANWAR to drilling, and I suspect McCain will go along with her, so something good might come out of something bad.

McCain secures the conservative Alaskan women vote!!! This is huge. That’s got to be atleast and extra couple hundred votes. Too bad he didn’t pick someone that people have actually heard of. This reaks of Mondale/Ferraro and we know how that turned out.

I feel the same way, how can she take care of her children and handle the VP job.

All the ABC report says is that she is scheduled to be at the Alaska state fair. Plans can change!

Plus McCain could immediately appoint her as leader of his “Drill Everywhere” task force.

A Biden/Palin debate will be interesting. Biden’s arrogance may get the better of him and he’ll come across with some kind of condescending statement.

HUGE disappointment if it's not Palin.

But it would be just like McCain to piss off conservatives once again.

Ridge is OK. He wasn't a bad governor(I'm in PA) and as veep his pro choice views are moot. It's just a matter of principle, McCain needs to do something for conservatives.
