McCain appears set to name Palin as running mate (FR exclusive analysis)
August 29, 2008 | xjcsa

Based on a couple of key pieces of evidence uncovered by others (h/t to Truthseeker at Draft Sarah Palin), it appears nearly certain that John McCain is set to announce Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. This evidence has also been noted by Kathryn Jean Lopez at the Corner and in a few posts here on FR, although I have not seen both pieces noted together.

So what's this evidence? Flight tracking information from two separate chartered flights.

One of these flights started in Anchorage and flew nonstop to Hook Field Municipal Airport (MWO) in Middletown, Ohio, less than 30 miles from where McCain is to make his first appearance with his running mate. The other airplane also started in Anchorage two days ago, but flew first to Flagstaff, Arizona (near McCain's home in Sedona), and then on to the same airport in Middletown, Ohio (with fuel stops along the way in Seattle and Amarillo).

This is too much for coincidence - it appears certain that Sarah Palin and her family were flown separately to Ohio for the big event. Most likely Palin was on the flight that stopped overnight in Flagstaff and her family was flown on the nonstop flight yesterday.

It's not 100%, but I'd call it something like 98% - Sarah Palin appears to be the pick.

Inexperience....

However, she’s been an EXECUTIVE, and a pretty feisty one at that.

Obama has zero experience as an executive.

She would make it kind of hard for us to push the “Obama isn’t ready to be President” angle

One thing is being ready for president. Another thing is being ready to be VICE-president.

If she’s the nominee, I don’t guess she’ll be doing too much of that mother/child bonding thing with her 4-month-old.

I don't know, but I would think she'd have more time being the V.P. than governing a state.

I hope it is Palin. She's a bonafide conservative with executive experience. Lifelong NRA, government reformer in her own party, pro life, and big on domestic energy.

Over the years McCain has done everything he could to poke conservatives in the eye while maintaining a barely conservative voting record.

He calls himself a conservative on the campaign trail, the least he can do is pick a real conservative for veep.

If it’s Sarah Palin, and she’s got 5 children, who’s going to be taking care of those children, including the one just born with Down’s Syndrome, while she is busy being VP. So much for motherly love.

“I never ever thought McCain would go there.”

Because she’s a woman, or a conservative? ;-).

Well, WHATEVER happens today, you’ve got to hand it to McCain (and his camp)... they can keep a secret. Compare all this to Barry’s fumbled non-announcement, with the idiotic 3 A.M. text message, and all the hoopla... after the secret had already been leaked.

Makes our guy kinda look competent, and The Obama look like a fool.

No, exactly the opposite. We have the mirror ticket with the young protégé learning during the administration of the master. They have the young protégé being backstopped by the old master. "There's a right way and a wrong way ..."

I think picking Palin will be played as pandering to the depressed hillary crowd, although being from Alaska she could bring the drilling/anwr fight to the forefront

Intrade.com is showing BIG movement toward Palin. Intrade.com is usually right.

How is Intrade.com right if they FOLLOW publicly published information? It's stupid. It's a lagging or at best coincident indicator.

Pandering?

Obviously you don’t think she is qualified, but why?

Obama has zero experience as an executive.

You are so right.

I'll say it again. Any woman with five children has more executive experience than Barack Obama.

The most common cause of death among VP’s is boredom. They really don’t do anything.

I know that when my daughter and son were born I didn’t voluntarily head out for a job that would keep me away from them all the time.

I’d call it a lapse in judgment, but I’d also point out that it was legal in Alaska.

Her Downs Syndrome baby says more about pro-life than anything anyone else could say.

Also, I like the headline:

MISS CONGENIALITY!

My wife and I are Mitt supporters, but after reading her background she has a lot of the “common/middle class” background that will appeal to men/woman who are looking for a doer.

We’re aboard if its her............

P.S. She could probably take Barry O in a one on one BB contest
