John McCain has reportedly chosen his running mate and will announce it tomorrow. It will leak today. Is it Mitt Romney? I hope so, and if you don't want President Obama, you'd better hope so, too - because if McCain does not choose Mitt, McCain loses.

Snip I believe McCain is thin-skinned and hasn't forgiven Mitt for challenging him during he primary. McCain is a liberal and wants another liberal on the ticket - like Lieberman! A big part of my instinct - and McCain's words in the past few days - discourage me in believing it is Mitt. I dearly hope I am wrong. A bi part of me knows McCain wants to produce an 'out-of-the-box' choice - like a woman, maybe even pro-choice woman.
If he does, he will lose, and richly deserve to.ww
That said: I am counting on John McCain's wanting to win. That requires picking a winner, someone who gets you the win: Mitt Romney.

Nothing will hurt McCain's maverick image; people have been watching him on CNN,ABC,NBC,MSNBC etal for so long they know just who he is. The old Reagan Dems will like Mitt because they know he is smart like Reagan. And the Hillary voters will become Mittens as I said earlier.
Romney is not pro-choice. At least not anymore.
McCain is suffering from a lack of charisma. There just isnt any interest surrounding him. Pawlenty just about makes this the most boring ticket in recent memory, including Bush/Quayle.
One choice makes most sense for McCain. Sarah Palin. She is a proud conservative. She is very much in favor of drilling in ANWR. Who could argue against her when, as the governor of Alaska, she explains that Alaskans want there to be more drilling in Alaska. She’s very eloquent in her debates, she has a very strong and confident personality. She’s a lifelong member of the NRA, she’s a graduate of the University of Idaho, she’s a mother of 5, her oldest son joined the Army in 2007, and she’s 2 years younger that B. Hussein Obama.
And she’s drop-dead gorgeous too. She brings an abundance of charm and charisma to the McCain ticket.
Well I disagree but I lived through JFK. Was not excited to have LBJ and that was a purely political VP pick, not someone who really should be Pres IMO. Reagan was shot during his term, luckily lived.
I hope McCain picks Mitt because of the ones mentioned, he is the best leader and I think both parties would know that.

Reagan dems connected to Reagan because they knew his convictions came from the core. Romney's biggest problem is he comes across as a plastic flip-flopper.

It sounds like it will be Mitt. That would be fine with me. People can either vote for the ticket or not. Nothing any of us can do anyway. We don’t live in a perfect world. McCain/Mitt is alot better than Obama/Biden.
I don’t know... looking at the so-called short list, I’d probably go with Romney over Pawlenty or Lieberman. Pawlenty looks like a bit of a lightweight and Lieberman is a Dem. I don’t see either of these two bringing in more votes than Romney.
Maybe the short list is wrong and there will be someone else.
After tomorrow we will all be able to settle down to a BORING ticket of McCain/Pawlenty. It makes me sleepy and turned off just thinking about it.

I totally agree with you. A McCain/Pawlenty ticket will not be very inspiring. I do not think he will bring life to the ticket and he does not seem as articulate as Romney. Is it true that Pawlenty is for ethanol and believes in global warming?

As a scientist, I think it is sad that politicians can be so gullible. They don't know enough to evaluate the facts, so they listen to a group of “prostituting” scientists who shade the truth to stampede congress into giving them big money.
