McCain to announce running mate on Friday (make your predictions now)
International Herald Tribune ^ | Aug. 28, 2008 | Elisabeth Bumiller and Michael Cooper

Posted on 08/27/2008 7:39:17 PM PDT by FocusNexus

Senator John McCain has decided on his running mate, two Republican strategists in contact with McCain's campaign said Wednesday. He is expected to reveal his choice at a rally at a basketball arena in Dayton, Ohio, at 11 a.m. Friday.

McCain's decision is known only to his small inner circle of advisers, no more than three or four people, who have refused all public discussion on the matter. Republicans close to the campaign said that the top contenders remained the same three men who have been the source of speculation for weeks: former Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and, possibly, Senator Joseph Lieberman, independent of Connecticut.

Romney would be the best VP, but it probably wont be him. If McCain picks Palin he will probably win in a landslide. The only way I see McCain losing this election is if he makes a poor choice for VP.

“I just checked it and it’s now McCain-Hutchinson.”

Yeah that’s good stuff. I checked twice in ten minutes and it switched from Hutchison to Pawlenty. So my questio is: Did the McCain camp buy these sites earlier in the year? Or are they just owned by Joe Schmo? If they are owned by the McCain camp, don’t be surprised to see that the actual pick is Palin, since she is the only one that doesn’t appear when you type in mccainpalin.com

Excuse me, refusing any compromise to the detriment of the country, is not just self-righteous, it is irresponsible.

Not doing everything within our power (legally, of course) to deny the WH to Obama, is reprehensible.

Life is filled with compromises that require rational thought, not a stubborn disregard for consequence.

Well there goes that theory, unless 3:00 PM falls within the time frame of when Sabbath ends.

The event schedule would mean that Lieberman would need to need to campaign on the Jewish sabbath, so he's probably out.

US News says Romney is out. That leaves Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Meg Whitman. KBH's relationship with McCain is cool so that leaves...

Except Meg Whitman lives in California, and that's a fairly long flight to make the 11AM rally.

“He will choose his old friend Joe Biden to cause confusion, particularly among Biden.”

Biden wants to be VP so bad I think he might run with McCain as well... I can already see him giving his acceptance speec next week (mainly the same one as tonight with the names flip flopped).

Also, Joe “The Mouth” Biden would love debating himself...

It ends at sundown, which is about 7:30 P.M. this time of year.

If it is PALIN it’ll be the biggest landslide in presidential history .

Yeah, for Obama after Joe Biden eats her lunch in their debate and shows her up for the warmed over municipal employee she is.

Get real.

My only problem with Whitman is that she has zero political experience. But then, it is only the VP slot, so I do not know that that matters to me too much.

Obama is the result of a nation that has compromised its soul nearly away. If McCain ties that final bow, so be it. The consequences reaped will be deserved.

The last I heard he was going to make his pick in the next 24 hours, thereby stealing a little of the tin-pot savior’s thunder. That and an hellacious thunderstorm would make my day.

Who ever it is, we can count on John McCain to let down and infuriate a large segment of the GOP base. Count on it. (...and I hope I’m wrong)

Just what I was thinking today. McCain always lets conservatives down when it really counts.
