McCain to announce running mate on Friday (make your predictions now)
International Herald Tribune ^ | Aug. 28, 2008 | Elisabeth Bumiller and Michael Cooper

Posted on 08/27/2008 7:39:17 PM PDT by FocusNexus

Senator John McCain has decided on his running mate, two Republican strategists in contact with McCain's campaign said Wednesday. He is expected to reveal his choice at a rally at a basketball arena in Dayton, Ohio, at 11 a.m. Friday.

McCain's decision is known only to his small inner circle of advisers, no more than three or four people, who have refused all public discussion on the matter. Republicans close to the campaign said that the top contenders remained the same three men who have been the source of speculation for weeks: former Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and, possibly, Senator Joseph Lieberman, independent of Connecticut.

Your vote is certainly yours to cast as you wish. But you cannot escape the CONSEQUENCES of your vote.

Your right, you can not escape the consequences of your vote...

And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just. Romans 3:8

Damnation is a strong word... a consequence... some of us take it seriously...

Kay Bailey supports the partial birth abortion ban, parental consent, and the Hyde Amendement. She may not favor an outright ban on 1st trimester abortions, but she does support reasonable restrictions.

The enemy is self destructing,

by safe, we win.

Remember the key to VP pick is the fact it does NOT help, but it CAN DEFINITLY HURT if wrong.

I prefer Romney. I feel that he posesses the skills necessary to help Mccain with economic issues. That being said about a year ago I registered the domain name Mccain-Pawlenty.org on a hunch. I would be willing to donate the name to the campaign as I will support Mccain over Obama every day. To date no one has approached me about the name so I speculate that it's probably not the ticket. This evening I began a search of combinations of domain names that are likely choices. While researching Mccain Palin I discovered this one that appears to be registered on Monday: McCain-Pawlenty 2008: John McCain - Tim Pawlenty 2008 I can't swear it's legit but it makes sense after viewing the results from all of my searches. J.K.

I picked Pawlenty back in February and was so confident that I made a FRiendly wager with another FReeper at that time as well.

Sticking with Tim Pawlenty.

You are correct. Neither of us can escape the consequences of our votes. Upon that we can and do agree and with that I think we have about exhausted the subject over which we so obviously don’t see eye to eye.

My guess is that it is a hoax.

A reverse WHOIS lookup of the johnmccain.com and johnmccainvp.com are not hosted in the same place. Although ownership of both sites was by proxy, it seems unlikely that this is a McCain site.

Hello My Friend !!!

I’ve not fixed bayonet since the trench warfare in GR-02...

I’ve been working overseas more on than off, since 2004. I’m home on R&R right now, from Iraq, (Al Asad).

I like your choices, but I’m getting the feeling it’s not going to be a sleeper or wildcard after all. I like former US Sen. Peter Fitzgerald’s chances as a sleeper/wildcard, although it’s a longshot.

It’s hard to say if the leaks pointing to Ridge, Pawlenty, or Lieberman, are accurate... could be disinformation.

What about you Devil Dog? Have you been running any counterinsurgency operations in your sector?

Best to you. I consider you a long distance, life long friend. Semper Fi.

Well, she could always leave like, you know, the night before or something.

Great idea! If she did that, she could fly commercial, instead of rolling her private jet out of the hangar for an 0430 departure.

Now how she could do in a head to head debate against Biden, I don't know.

I think she'd do fine. She has a degree in broadcast journalism, and every time I've seen her on TV she has looked and sounded very polished.

KBH isn’t a good executive pick. She’s a follower, not a leader. She’s a moderate, not a conservative. Voting for her IS simple pandering, as she brings nothing favorable to the table BUT her sex.

Palin, on the other hand, would be a good choice. She would bring energy (literally and figuratively). She would hype up the base because she is one of the Republican ‘brat pack’ of new talent (Palin, Jindal, Steele, Ryan, Cantor). She’s not just an executive, but a very popular one. She brings a compelling story. The case might still be made that the choice is pandering, but I doubt it could stick, in the face of the the base’s reaction to her as a pick: relief, for the most part.

And, I think the Dems ARE scared he’ll pick a woman. It would help if it’s the RIGHT woman. KBH isn’t that woman.

I think any of the ‘in’ picks (Romney, Pawlenty, Lieberman, Ridge) would be a letdown or ‘safe’ picks, ala Biden. If the first command of VP is do no wrong, going to the future for the GOP would be right.

I heard at the corner that Brownback is being considered. Him, Kasich, or one of the up and comers listed above: ANY of THOSE picks would be good picks.

I can live with Pawlenty or Romney, but why eat ramen noodles when you can afford steak?

While just typing random URLs into the bar, I found http://www.mccainpalin08.com and http://www.mccainfiorina08.com , which are both parked at Godaddy. They trace through Internic Whois to Godaddy as well... just for fun, I suppose.

www.mccainpalin08.com was created in Feb. 2008 - rather insightful, don’t you think? However, www.mccainfiorina08.com doesn’t yet show up on Internic Whois...

Those are the only two I have found so far!

Also parked at Godaddy - http://www.mccain-hutchinson.com . Listed as created Feb 2008, like the Palin one; VERY prescient!

Interestingly enough, John McCain’s official website appears to be hosted by Godaddy.com...

I was also surprised to find that http://www.mccain-ridge08.com mirrors the official McCain website, but does not appear to be hosted through the same service.

Better be Palin. McCain’s an idiot if he doesn’t choose her. Of course, McCain has never struck me as the intelligent type, so he’ll probably pick a snoozer like Pawlenty.
