Senator John McCain has decided on his running mate, two Republican strategists in contact with McCain's campaign said Wednesday. He is expected to reveal his choice at a rally at a basketball arena in Dayton, Ohio, at 11 a.m. Friday.
McCain's decision is known only to his small inner circle of advisers, no more than three or four people, who have refused all public discussion on the matter. Republicans close to the campaign said that the top contenders remained the same three men who have been the source of speculation for weeks: former Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and, possibly, Senator Joseph Lieberman, independent of Connecticut.

McCain didn’t seem to vet many people for VP, unfortunately. I am guessing it will be Romney, but will not be shocked if it is Kay Bailey Hutchison
She has zero experience with elected office. I'm sure she has plenty of political experience.
I'd really be shocked if McCain picked her. It would be an "out of the box" choice, though.

So all those women voted for Hillary because she was a better debator than Obama? Remember what happened when all the dem men (term used loosely) picked on Hillary in the debates? She scored points off it. Biden may beat her in a debate but beating her badly in a debate would probably do more damage for them. Besides, the scorned Hillassies are going to vote far more based on gender than the logic of the debates. If logic won elections there wouldn’t be a democrat party.

Normally i would agree, but his new campaign manager has been impressive. If the same person who is in charge of all these TV ads is in charge of picking the VP, I think we will be Ok.

The problem with Whitman is I don’t think she’s ever held office. When McCain is hitting Obama’s lack of experience Obama will point to that, ignore all her private sector experience and let the media run with it. A VP candidate with at least as much government experience as Obama plus private sector experience couldn’t be attacked the same way. The main thing she’d bring to the ticket is being a she, to appeal to the upset Hillary crowd. I don’t know much about her positions, other than she’d been an early Romney supporter, and have no idea about her debating skills. An skilled debater could make Biden look foolish, but an rookie could get snowed under by him.

She didn’t get where she is today getting pushed around by the likes of Biden .
He is successful, has held elective office, is pro-life, is pro 2nd Amendment, is conservative and -- most importantly -- could replace McCain if the need arises. McCain loves this Country too much to leave it in the hands of an unqualified person if something should happen to him. None of the others who have been mentioned is anywhere close to being as qualified as Mitt. The choice is simple and easy.
