From the Chicago Tribune today "Files linking Obama to '60s radical a hot commodity."
Also, NR and NRO contributor Stanley Kurtz is going to be on WGN radio in Chicago with Milt Rosenberg discussing the Annenberg files from 9-11 central time. If you're not in the Chicago area, you can listen here. (link in body below)
2 much!
they turned down the projects that emphasized math and science.
oba mao and ayers’ annenberg challenge went to ethnic projects and failed!
Annenberg Challenge was to fund educational endeavors.
People who were funded were focused on ethnic identity.
People were turned down: algebra project, district #5 math-science initiative.
Annenberg Challange failed to improve public education.
If I’m not mistaken, a grant proposal generally has to specifically name the principal parties involved, such as chairman (in this case Obama). That would seem to imply rather strongly a collaboration between Obama and Ayers. Anybody more familiar with grant-writing procedures want to confirm or correct?
Money (con’t):
- Kurtz: Compared files of projects that received CAC money vs. those projects turned down.
- The projects that received CAC funding. Examples: The Southshore African village collaboration - to celebrate holiday of “Juneteenth”- got $200k. Considered an education grant. CAC funneled grants to external partners.
- Themes of projects funded: ethnic identity, Biligual education, An Ayers foundation (a “Peace” school) - plus maybe conflict of interest for funding one of his own projects.(?)
- Projects turned down: Chicago Algebra project, District 5 math sci initiative, English as second language - math sci improvement.
- No positive effect of CAC projects. Failed to help public schools. {Sounded like it was a conclusion of internal & external reports}.
Side Story:
Producer back in: Obama camp sends out an “action wire” regarding this radio program tonight.
DISCLAIMER: All notes are paraphrased. Not an exact transcript. I assume Stanley Kurtz will be writing a story on his findings once he is finished reviewing documents.
the oba mao campaign is calling the radio station to complain.
oba mao talking points given to followers to call into the station.
“be honest and persistent”.
form to report results back to oba mao campaign.
a document shows that william ayers ex-officio member of board.
but the oba mao campaign talking points deny.
ap has reported march 1995 briefing.
Producer: Obama camp mailed entire media list complaining about Stanley Kurtz. Obama website is telling people to call station to complain. It contains talking points (which are same as emails coming in). Politico put up something based on Obama’s wire.
Kurtz: I did not say it was 100% certain that Ayers was involved getting Obama assigned to Board.
- Kurtz is refuting talking points sent out by Obama team.
{MY NOTE: This info is only based on a preliminary look at files. No conclusions are final}

thanks for posting.
very interesting interview.

>Even more intriguing, in 1995 Ayers won a $49.2 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation matched two-to-one by public and private contributions to promote reform in the Chicago school system. He quickly brought in Obama, then all of 33 and bereft of any executive experience, to chair the board. With Ayers directing the projects operational arm and Obama overseeing its financial affairs until 1999, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge distributed more than $100 million to ideological allies with no discernible improvement in public education.
>Until this week, moreover, the University of Illinois at Chicago, where Ayers works, was blocking access to the projects files (examination of which was being sought by frequent National Review contributor Stanley Kurtz), until finally relenting under public pressure. Less than three months from Election Day, analysis of the records from Barack Obamas only significant executive experience is just beginning.
