Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic Senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.
Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.
A cigar-smoking Denver police sergeant, accompanied by a team of five other officers, first put his hands on Eslocker's neck, then twisted the producers arm behind him to put on handcuffs.

Can't say in all areas, but in SF, many , many sidewalks are owned by the developer and the building. You see funny little plaques in the sidewalk proclaiming it as private property and the right to restrict access. Can't say if that is a right the courts agree with but the signs are in a lot of sidewalks.
PS The cops were bigtime jerks.
Mr. Tuff pushes the reporter into the street, then tells him he’s impeding traffic. Duh...OK officer.
None of the above. Thanks for playing.
Do you kno what you are talking about or are you just making stuff up?
“A police state sometimes seems nice when theyre throttling your enemy.”
It’s getting more difficult by the day keeping track of all our enemies! This will be good for ABC.
Was it a robusto??? Arturo Fuente??? |
I pray the reprobate didn't screw up the cigar...
Indeed, they are. But we can't have those pesky little first-amendment believers pestering the important donors and rulers now, can we?
He is from Ohio and I was born there too.
He is correct, at least in Ohio. We maintained the sidewalk of our corner lot because if anyone got hurt there, we got sued.
Sounds like the Chinese during the Olympics.
It goes without saying that they'll give the same treatment (or worse) to the GOP next week. But I am startled to see that they are doing it to the Dems as well!!! What gives here? Are they trying to stop some of the bleeding of their viewership to Fox?
Check out this one: ON THE MONEY TRAIL AT THE DNC The first of 16 photos is labeled "A stream of luxury corporate jets arrived in Denver over the weekend, bringing corporate executives, lobbyists and their friends to the Democratic National Convention. Among those on board was Sen. John Kerry, ....."
Or this one: Lawyer in Edwards "Cover-Up" Gets VIP Treatment in Denver
Not novel. BS.
Imagine if ABC said, you know, enough is enough and Fox is squandering their position. How about WE become really fair and balanced and kick butt big time? It could work.
I find the confusion between City of Denver police and Sheriff of the Boulder County interesting. Don't know what it means, but they are different entities.
Oh yeah it was not the little guy that got treated this way, which would be just fine, it was them they are elite that is their only problem.
That’s one scary video. There is no possible constitutional justification for the strong arm tactics of the police as an American citizen exercised his right to stand on a public sidewalk. But even worse the police arrested aforesaid American citizen at the behest of vested interests working to protect ELECTED OFFICIALS from public exposure of their activities.
What a sickening display of police state tactics. ABC should dig into this story like a pit bull on a bone.
Very telling; you are indeed playing, instead of looking for the clue that you need.

“Why are most of the cops fata$$s in this scene?”
Your observation is astute, little noticed by most and is worthy for a short discussion and its consequent implications.
I’ve noticed, too, that “cops” have been getting beer barrel fat the past five years.
These “police” reflect, in stature, weight and socialist philosphy, the lazy welfare slobs and fat liberal politicians they protect for their 30 pieces of silver. Police are fat, unaccountable bureaucrats with badges who are not necessarily your friend.
This hefty weight gain amongst police, though, portends well for our continued liberty.
Sooner or later these fat police, who are willing tools of their Marxist masters in big government, will be called upon to round up the 200 million or so arms held by Americans to ensure a safe totalitarian state ruled by other fat, leftist Marxists. They won’t succeed.
Quite simply, these fat police slobs won’t survive in battle. If they need to run 100 yards on a battlefield, half would die from heart attacks or strokes. And they’d need whales on a battlefield to find cover.
It wouldn’t be like shooting fish in a barrel; it would be like shooting the barrel.
Needless to say, I have little respect for police appointed by politicians, but I have great respect for sheriffs elected by the people. It’s a subtle distinction but a worthwhile one to think about.
Police, mostly located in big liberal cities, carry out the will of their Marxist masters and are unaccountable to the people, while sheriffs carry out the will of the people and are accountable to the people via the ballot box.
Which would you prefer enforce the law in your community? The choice is no contest if you prefer liberty.
That’s my short exposition concerning your observation of fat police.
Well said.
