A federal jury begun deliberating the fate of convicted child killer Joseph Edward Duncan III on Wednesday after he declined to plead for his life.
This defendant is dangerous. He is a predator who takes pride in his work, Assistant U.S. Attorney Traci Whelan said. He earned this day. His actions call out for the death penalty.
Duncan, who pleaded guilty in December to 10 federal charges involving the kidnapping of two northern Idaho children and the murder of one of them in May 2005, offered no response to prosecutors call for his death.

I have no argument, [Duncan] told the court. Duncan is representing himself.

I posted this article because of a paragraph of commentary found:
Art Patterson, a jury consultant and senior vice president of the trial consulting firm DecisionQuest said: Generally, for human beings, its pretty hard to maintain impartiality when confronted with such horror, Patterson said. They can say as much as they want, My duty as a juror is to be fair and impartial but theyre human beings theyre not computers. The absolute depravity of what occurred there has to have a biasing effect.
Article states that Patterson feels Duncan will be given a death penalty sentence.
Editorial note: The “— SNIP —” was supposed to replace the third paragraph for brevity (I forgot to delete it).
Joseph Duncan is evil personified. A man who preyed upon, kidnapped, brutally tortured, raped, and killed young children. Such a man can hardly be considered human, and should not be spared the same fate as his victims. If I ever have to argue in support of death penalty, Joseph Duncan will be my Exhibit A.
“Whelan told the jury that Duncan would pose a risk even to prison guards and fellow inmates.”
Please! The inmates would love to be put at such risk, which is probably why Duncan is keeping his mouth shut and hoping for the security of death row......
That is an inborn human sense of justice.
Figure out how to be a human being, then get back with us, 'k?
This should take about ten minutes, enough time to fill out the jury forms and sign them.
This SOB needs to die a slow agonizing death.
I’m more of a firing squad kind of guy myself.
Verdict reached at approx 2:00pm mst. Just about two hours.
No link yet. Stay tuned.
Saw a lot of coverage on this trial locally but nothing nationally. Wonder why?
Yeah! Start at the knees and work your way up. Slowly, with a small caliber.
