The Russian-backed Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov will inaugurate the "largest mosque in Europe" on October 17, the Russian official news agency Novosty reported.
Over 10,000 worshipers will be able to pray inside the mosque, which will be named after the president's father, Ahmad Kadyrov, who was killed in 2004.
"The largest mosque in Europe will by inaugurated on the first day of the International Peacemakers' Conference, titled 'Islam Religion of Peace and Progress,'" the grand mufti of Chechnya, Sultan Mirzayev, told the press.
Mirzayev underlined that approximately 50 countries have already approved their participation in the three-day conference.
The building of the mosque began more than three years ago. Surrounding the mosque will be Chechnya's Islamic administration, a religious school, an Islamic university, a hotel and a religious library.
Kadyrov, 31, is the son of Ahmad Kadyrov, an anti-Russian rebel leader who at one point was titled "Chechnya's rebel mufti" [mufti an Islamic, cleric who issues religious decrees].
In 1999 the Kadyrovs defected to the Russian side. On March 2 2007 then Russian president Vladimir Putin nominated Kadyrov as Chechen president.

Pandering at its worst. Idiots.
Aren't those the folks that set off that bomb in Moscow in 1999?
And took over that Theater in Moscow in 2002?
And staged 11 bomb attacks the next year?
And blew up the plane that killed 90 people?
And ten more at the Subway station?
And killed like, 300 people, half of them kids at that school in Beslan?
A mosque you say?
Wonder if there's any connection?

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.
He will be there to throw out the first hand-grenade.
will by inaugurated on the first day of the International Peacemakers’ Conference, titled ‘Islam Religion of Peace and Progress,’”
So the conference will last what 21 minutes?
I mean if the discussion is on Islam being a religion of peace and progress it couldn’t last much longer then that could it? I mean how progressive is the 7th Century in 2008?
Figures. Yet the Putin-Poots here try to paint Putin, the self-proclaimed "greatest friend of Islam", as some sort of gung-ho anti-islamic hero.
Probably bought and paid for with bloody Wahhabist petrodollars.
The one million people he rules under Moscow's ukase are the poorest people on the Eurasian landmass with the possible exception of the Laotians.
Yet the Russian funds exist to build the world's largest mosque.
And some utter morons on FR will still claim that Putin - Kadyrov's boss and Ahmadinejad's best friend - and the craven "nation" he rules are stalwart enemies of Islamism.
What a joke.
And the blood and tears of his nation’s children..
And the blood and tears of his nation’s children..
So no, these are not the Chechen rebels. And you can bet every word said in this Mosque is carefully monitored by the Russians too.
The brutal biography of Chechnya's Ramzan Kadyrov - Since Ramzan Kadyrov took over, Moscow appears to have granted him a blank check for reconstruction and a free rein to crack down. Analysts say this is the Faustian deal struck by the Kremlin: Let Kadyrov do what he wants as long as Chechnya stays quiet. On the mountainside overlooking the presidential residence in Gudermes, this city east of Grozny, "There's no god but God" is spelled out in massive Arabic letters.
"Kadyrov, you've only been president for a year and the city has risen from the ashes and the people are exulting," reads a banner on Kadyrov Prospect, just across from Kadyrov Square and the Akhmad Kadyrov mosque.
At least part of that statement is true: Grozny is coming back to life with remarkable speed. Two years ago, the city had one stoplight. Today there are supermarkets, a small hotel attached to a working airport, billiard halls, a movie theater and restaurants, two of which are named Hollywood.
All of this, courtesy of Moscow -- the price of peace. "As much as we need," Kadyrov says. "They destroyed all of it, so why shouldn't they? Our people are not to blame. They should have carried out pinpoint strikes, not what they did. I always tell them. I demand. They are obligated to rebuild and if it doesn't happen, I'll write my resignation paper."
The scarcely rebuilt capital is crowded with memorials to Akhmad Kadyrov, many of them adorned with this quote: "I have always been proud of my people." Akhmad Kadyrov was arguably more famous for declaring: "Russians outnumber Chechens many times over, thus every Chechen should kill 150 Russians." But that quote is nowhere to be seen. - LINK
Pretty scary.
Especially when you consider the growing number of muzzies in the Russian military and living in Moscow.
He has decreed it, and none shall annul it.
1.Mufti’s run the Sharia Courts.
2.Why would Russia even allow this?
WHEN DOES THE WORLD, WAKE UP?
Who said that?
