Spike Lee Sees Rappers as Obama Campaign Asset
NewsBusters ^ | August 27, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

Film producer Spike Lee believes Barack Obama has a secret weapon that will be a big asset to his campaign: rappers. Yes, in Spike Lee's opinion hip-hop music will be a key element in getting Obama elected. Lee expounded upon the importance of hip-hoppers in this election in the New York Times The Caucus:

Mr. Lee, who has often uses hip-hop music and casts hip-hop stars in his films, said that rappers should, well, feel free to mince their too-hot words at such a crucial time in American politics.

Of course, allowing hip-hoppers to play a part in a political campaign is fraught with danger:
In particular, the platinum-selling artist Ludacris referred to Senator Clinton as an “irrelevant” epithet and attacked Senator John McCain with the line, “Paint the White House black and I’m sure that’s got ’em terrified/ McCain don’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed.”

For good measure, he referred to President Bush as “mentally handicapped.”

Yeah. I see the scene often down here in South Florida at the gas stations. Some young guy with loud rap much chock full of F-bombs blasting out of his car stereo system while some elderly couple are filling up their tank, looking annoyed as hell and anxious just to split the scene as quickly as possible.

F. Spike really believes making Obama the "black" candidate will make him more electable? He's beyond stupid!

Lessee what Spike Lee thinks is cool:

The foulest language available in English.

Constant reference to females as b!tches and whores.

Obnoxious music that sounds more like a washing machine falling down the stairs than anything lyrical.

Rap stars with connections to drug gangs, drive-by shootings, and executions of whole families.

Yes, that ought to go over big with Middle America.

Nice thinkng, Spike Lee.

I think Spike is almost correct...Its BREAK DANCERS! If Barack does not sieze upon break dancers than his campaign is lost. Who doesn’t love some guy with a boom box and a piece of cardboard free stylin’ it from a head spin into a rump bumper?

Well, J Forbes Kerry said he was “fascinated by rap”, its poetry of the streets!
I think he also think taggers who spray paint bridges and houses are “street artists”.

What a great way to endear yourself to American voters: Put the worst elements of your culture front and center. I wonder if Obama will “make it rain” like Adam “Pac Man” Jones during his speech at Invesco......with our tax dollars, no less.

I would love to see the rappers performing at the senior citizen condos down here in a effort to get out the vote for Obama.

Lessee.
The Obamessiah already has 95%+ of the black vote locked up. Rap probably doesn’t appeal to most non-black adult voters (it certainly doesn’t appeal to me...). So how is it going to be an asset to BHO?

Me too.....because when the seniors throw their hands in the air like they just don't care.........they'll sincerely mean it.

ROFLMAO, we need “rap” in politics just as much as I enjoy sticking a wine bottle opener in my eye and pouring hot sauce in the wound. This moron will say anything to get attention, and when he does say something, it usually isn’t intelligent enough to merit any news coverage. I think what he tried to do to Clint Eastwood a couple months back was just childish. Because all of Spike lee’s films have been flops, he tries to degrade someone elses work. Grow up Spike or get that mental problem taken care of!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one thinking about “Malibu’s Most Wanted”, where the son of the guy running for governor, who fancies himself a rapper, shows up at a campaign stop with scantily clad dancers ?
