Can we physically dock there? Didn't the Russians blow up all kind of vessels in the port?

Not a good idea to be in dock if you expect an attack by other naval sources. I do not know if this is a educing our provocation or a wise move. Have to wait and see.

There is more to this decision than we know.

Most likely it is possible; reports said that only a small boat was blown, and as you can see there is plenty of docking space.

The decision is clearly political because, as matter of "boots on the ground," Poti at the moment does not quite belong to Georgia. Considering that Georgia today lost all of Abkhazian coast with its large ports, there is some food for thought.

Thank you for that food for thought.

I can’t figure out what is going on.

I’m pretty sure LHAs exceed the tonnage limit for warships allowed to pass through the Dardanelles. There is a no aircraft carrier provision too.

On another thread it’s already arrived in another port-with pictures.

"The heightened activity of NATO ships in the Black Sea perplexes us," Col. Gen. Anatoly Nogovitsyn said in Moscow.

Honestly, that doesn't take much.

"This aid could be bought at any flea market," he added.

Providing they are flea markets that haven't been shelled or looted. Not many of those left in Georgia.

I think we are over reacting to this... How is this different than what we did in Kosovo?

It doesn’t look good, but we don’t have all of the facts. Maybe we got word that an attack like the one on the USS Cole was afoot?

I don't see any equivalence to Kosovo. What we did in Serbia was terribly wrong but the two situations are vastly different. Just as the two countries of the USA and Russia are quite different.

Serbians have been led by tried and convicted war criminals. They were comitting genocide against Kosovo Albanians, and ethnic cleansing. If you and Russia want to ally themselves with the worst kind of criminal regime, so be it, but but don’t equate the South Ossettians with Kosovan Albanians. And by the way, if you people think the Commies are so great, why don’t you go and live there?

See this article - Christopher Hitchens: South Ossetia Isn't Kosovo

For years, the Bush Administration tried to help Serbia maintain some formal status with Kosovo, and Serbia pissed on us every time. Their voters kept electing a bunch of drunks to Parliament from the "Radikal Party". There is no way we could turn over Kosovo to those sots.

In the end, we made the right decision to keep NATO in control of Kosovo.

Hopefully, things are starting to get better in Serbia. If they straighten up and get rid of the Radikals, maybe they can join NATO someday too.

Genocide in Kosovo? Sorry, that never panned out. Your pals Bill Clinton and Madeline Halfbright lied about that. But the Kosovars did ethnically cleanse the area of Christian Serbians while NATO troops stood by. Maybe that’s what you were talking about.

Are you sure? Im pretty sure Ive seen pictures of the Admiral Kuznetsov (~70,000t) in the black sea. Besides, ships much larger than that (Oil tankers) also pass through there dont they?

Don’t need to... Once Obama gets elected we will have it here. Seriously, you supported the ragheads in Kosovo did you?

What the hell do you think the reaction will be in Washington DC when Texas wants to succeed, once there is a majority if hispanics? Are you stupid or just pretending to be?
