N.M. Delegation Under Pressure To Make Sure State Goes Blue
Albuquerque Journal ^ | August 26, 2008 | Jeff Jones

On Day One of the Democratic National Convention, the message to New Mexico's 38 delegates was as clear as the blue sky over the Front Range: Do something you couldn't get done in 2004 — and win battleground New Mexico for Barack Obama. "We are counting on you, New Mexico. ... We need you, New Mexico," Donna Brazile, a national Democratic heavy hitter who managed Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign, exhorted the New Mexicans at their breakfast meeting Monday. "Your state — New Mexico — is absolutely key," Federico Peña, a former Denver mayor, energy and transportation secretary and a co-chairman of Obama's presidential campaign, said during his own speech to the group. "I pray those of you in New Mexico do everything you can to deliver the state of New Mexico — and we'll take care of Colorado."

-SNIP-

Richardson added, "We are going to spend a lot of time on the Navajo reservation. Even in moderate areas: We're going to contest Otero County and Curry County. We won't win there — but we will try to be competitive."

I guess this is ONE way to keep King Bill off his personal jet and in the state for a while.

I guess the Dems forgot how much distrust they have fostered between the Hispanics and Blacks. I don’t see the Hispanics voting for BHO in great numbers.

I can’t remember the county name, but it is the one that has Albuquerque in it and it seems that in every election there is some kind of recount/fraud problem.

Well, I think our state bureaucrats are going to be torn...most of the vote counters are hispanic, and dem....are they going to be inspired to obey King Bill in his efforts to make it into O's cabinet, or will they do an honest count?

I would think the electorate may lean slightly to McCain.

With packs of smokes and free alcohol no doubt.

King Bill has done everything he can to insure that NM will go blue. When he allowed illegals to obtain NM driver's licenses, he also gave them a way to legally sign up to vote. In fact, with that license, they can go to several states in the country and use the NM license they have to obtain licenses in other states too. Once they do that they can sign up to vote in those states too.

All it takes is Soros' money for travel and lodging, and the same illegal immigrants can vote multiple times in our elections. IF Obama wins, it will be because of voter fraud. I will go to my grave believing that the only reason the RATS took over the House and Senate last time was because of voter fraud. Since then, they've had 4 years to add illegals to the voter rolls.

What’s this Blue State crap?

It was bad enough after 2004 that the newsmedia (Whoring SOBs, USSR) kept the incumbant party as red, but after 2 terms of a Republican President the Republicans should be blue (just like the Dems in 2000).

Of course, no sane person expects the media whores to be anything close to objective. It’d just be nice to see someone like Hannity or Limbaugh or O’Reilly (or all 3) make a big deal about it, all in the name of shining a light on the cockroaches.

New Mexico delegates schmooze and booze at convention

DENVER — It was too good a cliché to pass up: a smoke-filled room at a political convention.

But that's exactly what was going on Sunday night with New Mexico delegates to the 2008 Democratic National Convention and assorted friends in the Churchill Room of the historic Brown Palace hotel.

Perhaps it was politically incorrect in these health-conscious times, but state party chairman Brian Colón hosted a "smoker" — a cigar party for New Mexicans who made the trip to Denver this week.

The booze was flowing and there was food — a deli tray, some jumbo shrimp wrapped in lettuce. And there were boxes of cigars: strong dark CAOs, short but powerful Punches and several milder brands.

Virtually every man in the room was smoking. And many of the women, too. If politics was discussed, it was in the confines of informal conversation. Mainly it was a time to socialize and relax the night before the convention officially got under way on Monday.

A guess rules apply to everyone else except Democratic politicians.

You’ve nailed it!

I know that the NM GOP wanted the list from MVD of who the illegals were that got licenses so they could match them against voter records and King Bill said NO! Did the GOP pursue this in the courts? Seems to me like they did and some local judge denied their request, so they dropped it. At any rate, they didn't pursue it very far, but since this destroys the integrity of our election process (not only in NM but the entire country), couldn't we citizens sue MVD and King Bill to get that information into our hands so we could check it? I would think this would be a case that could sail through on high speed to the USSC, since it affects the entire election process.

Albuquerque is in Bernalillo County. The other county that has trouble with elections is Rio Arriba County in the northern part of the state.

Yes, Bernalillo County has plenty of problems each and every election. Now that Mary Herrera is Secty of State, expect the same to happen pretty much throughout the entire state. She was Bernalillo County Clerk before she ran for SoS in 2006. I plan to do what I can to prevent fraud and irregularities at the polls. The State GOP is looking for people to be challengers at the polls. I signed up today.
