ROCK ON FOLKS!!
A question for Nancy Pelosi, hands-down winner of the 2008 Box of Rocks award. SanFranNan, where does natural gas, that “alternative to fossil fuels,” come from? Might is be, oh, I don’t know ... UNDERGROUND? To power the entire vehicle fleet of the United States you’d need to DRILL how many wells?
Great posting, posted as followup in my site http://www.theusmat.com/
If you have a conservative legislative candidate looking for ideas on getting the word out... Page layouts and campaigning techinques refer them to http://www.theusmat.com/home.htm
You know, too darn many in the political elite on both sides of the aisle participate in deals like this. How can so many politicians, who can barely find two cents of their own to rub together, go to DC, knock down a nice, but not excessive salary, and emerge wealthy? There's a real story here if anyone would actually track it down.
Life is simple Read tagline—lot simpler than north pole or out in the ocean...
The old defense that “They’re ALL crooks, so just ignore this deal” just doesn’t wash.
Pelosi belongs in jail for this, not just out of the Speaker’s office.
The clowns in the MSM (aka Dem Propaganda Ministry) who are stonewalling it can go in the cells down the hall.
In case you missed Jay Leno last night, McCain got THUNDEROUS applause on the Drill Here, Drill Now comment....in California!!
Thanks for all of your hard work keeping this in the foreground of America’s conversation!!
Thank you and AWESOME news about last night
I am off to give a presentation at a University here in GA.....
Will not be back til late- after supper
Thanks to ALL OF YOU!! FOR EVERYTHING YOU ALL DO EVERYDAY!!!
I AM BLESSED TO BE A FREEPER!!
What Congress might do on the offshore drilling issue (Pelosi's in no position to "compromise")
"Q: I read your article regarding the limit on offshore drilling for oil that is set to expire on Sept. 30. What if the speaker of the House will not even bring it up for a vote? Does that mean the ban on most drilling will expire and we could start more drilling? This article really got me thinking, because I watch a lot of the news programs and no one has mentioned this. I would appreciate your comments, because that was one of the most interesting articles that I have read recently.
A: Thank you for your positive feedback.
My understanding, from speaking with various folks who keep close tabs on Congress, is that the Democratic-controlled House is seeking to combine an extension of the ban on most drilling for another year with the annual spending bill, which will be waiting for congressional action upon their return from vacation in early September. If Republicans stick to their guns and oppose the annual budget bill because it includes another extension of the offshore drilling limit, this could lead to a government shutdown if a compromise isn't reached by the end of September..."
It's Unwise To Tax 'Well-Earned' Profits
"There are certain laws you can break without serious repercussions, but the laws of economics are far less forgiving. And history shows that we will all pay a hefty fine if lawmakers choose to enact a "windfall" profits tax as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has just proposed and Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama supports.
Talk of a "windfall" profits tax turns up, like a bad penny, when politicians catch on that Americans have become frustrated by high gas prices. The concept is simple: Politicians, who are no more popular than high energy prices right now, see an easy scapegoat. So they slap an extra tax on the "bad guy" and take a bow.
... we tried a windfall profits tax from 1980 to 1988. A report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service concluded that this tax reduced domestic oil production by 3% to 6% and increased oil imports in the range of 8% to 16%. History has shown that a windfall profits tax increased U.S. dependence on foreign oil. It would do so again if repeated.
This real-life history proves the economic theory for why windfall profits negatively impact progress toward cheaper gas and increased supply of alternative fuels..."
