Plot to Kill Obama: Shoot From High Vantage Point

Denver's U.S. attorney is expected to speak on Tuesday afternoon about the arrests of four people suspected in a possible plot to shoot Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.

One of those suspects spoke exclusively to CBS4 investigative reporter Brian Maass from inside the Denver City Jail late Monday night and said his friends had discussed killing Obama.

"So your friends were saying threatening things about Obama?" Maass asked.

"Yeah," Nathan Johnson replied.

"It sounded like they didn't want him to be president?"

"Yeah," Johnson said.

Maass reported earlier Monday that one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle ... sighted at 750 yards."

Law enforcement sources told Maass that one of the suspects "was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative."

Some Colorado FReeper might correct me but, I don’t believe there are any *high points* close to the stadium.

This is a new story; too bad CBS didn’t change the headline from the earlier one. Sheesh!

DENVER (AP) - Authorities are investigating whether a man arrested with rifles, ammunition and drugs in his truck made statements threatening Barack Obama, but emphasize he never posed a “credible threat” to the candidate or the Democratic National Convention. Federal and local authorities had scheduled a news conference for Tuesday afternoon, but U.S. Attorney Troy Eid downplayed the case. “We’re absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate, the Democratic National Convention, or the people of Colorado,” Eid said in a statement.

As much as I dislike Obama’s views and plans for this country, murdering him is not the answer. This is America, we take care of things at the ballot box, not at the point of a gun.

I did a search to see if anyone else had posted it and nothing came up. Sorry if it’s a double.

These threats are not suprising. There was if my memory is correct a prediction made by a female British writer who said if Obama is elected, his life would be threatened in office.

This is America, we take care of things at the ballot box, not at the point of a gun.

What shall we do if they keep rigging the ballot box? ( Dead people voting, people voting multiple times, ballots disappearing, etc. )

"suspected in a possible plot"

Definitive.

I saw another (British, I think) headline identifying the would-be shooters as “white supremacists”. This is probably all staged to get support for Obama and prove that anyone who opposes him is nuts. Maybe that’s why there’s no credible threat.

Not that these idiots shouldn't have been arrested, but how come the RATS don't react the same way when it is a group of terrorists threatening our nation?????

I posted too quickly.

If the general elections of 2000 and 2004 were any indication, election fraud will only get worse. This administration has done nothing in regard to this issue. They are too afraid of being labeled as the bad guys. If the powers that be at a state and federal level are hesitant to act then we need to pressure them to clean up this mess. It is the only way to have any trust in the ballot box.

Perhaps, Brian Maass wants out of the Denver Market and his subject thinks he is working on a deal for reduced sentence. Possession of narcotics and firearms at the same time carries a fairly substantial amount of time.

“Officials with the U.S. Attorney’s office in Denver said they do not believe there is a credible threat to Obama or the convention.”

Meth possession and a rifle “sighted in at 750 yards” equals a fantasy and a need for that “fifteen minutes of fame”. Metro Denver and 750 yard target acquisition are totally incongruous. This is the kind of “stuff” that only works in the movies and only because the script writer says it does.

That's EXACTLY why all FReepers need to get poll-watching credentials and get out there in the trenches. I was able to get blatant and rampant electioneering shut down here in the northern burbs during the last several election cycles of Chicago which are located inside the northern border of Crook, er, Cook County.

Take a cell phone along with the phone number of the State Board of Elections pre-programmed, as well as a video camera. They'll stop the behavior when they see you are "armed".

Leave it to the dip$hits to try and start a race war.

That said, I doubt this dumbass Nazi tweaker could even manage to hit the ground with a 750yd high-deflection shot.
