Cindy McCain heading to Georgia

Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, is traveling to the nation of Georgia, which has seen intense fighting with Russian forces over the past month, her husband said Monday.

John McCain announced the trip at a fundraiser in Sacramento, California, telling the crowd, “Cindy is not here today, and I am sorry she is not, but she is on her way to the little country of Georgia.”

The wife of the Arizona senator will return on Wednesday, CNN's Dana Bash reported.

Cindy McCain is traveling with the U.N.'s World Food Program and plans to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Sakaashvili as well as wounded Georgian soldiers, a McCain campaign aide told CNN. She is also scheduled to meet with members of the HALO Trust, a group aimed at removing landmines.

There for a moment I thought it was Cindy Sheehan.... Now that would have been fun... and wonderful news.

Alas, if only she were bringing a planeload of Stingers and Javelins. That would save more Georgian lives than a load of food and medical supplies.

Her history with international aide organizations is a plus.

Excellent move. Excellent strategery.

I'm delighted that Sen. Mac has some really sharp heads on his campaign team at last.

(.......I was going to say sharp "strategeryists" but I don't know how to spell it. Being a freeper has now put me at a hugh disadvantage in proper spelling, LOL).

I was just thinking — if Cindy asked Mrs. Obama that he is more than welcome to come along and see what the US is doing to help the Georgians, what do you think her (Mrs. Obama’s) response is going to be?

My guiess is that others will bring all of the humanitarian needs for the Georgians, from food, clothing, to water, to self defense. All are critical for survival and I believe all will be provided.

Furthermore, I believe that as time goes on, the world will see a marked difference between the prosperity, freedom, and general condition of the Georgians at large who live "sout of the lines" and the people who are given over to Russian occupation in those provinces.

If that condition holds for any length of time (and my prayer is that those peoples in the provinces will have an opportunity at true freedom sooner rather than later), then watch for a very clear and obvious difference as to what the relative merits of the two societies bring their citizens.
