Denver -- Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama acknowledged today that he has lost ground against Republican rival John McCain.
But Obama plans to win through telling his story, talking about his plans for the country, and connecting with people, Obama allies said as the Democratic National Convention opens.
"He loves basketball you know, and plays it," said Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin, the senior Illinois senator and Senate Majority Whip. "We talked about the game today and we realized that over the last week or 10 days, John McCain has had a 12-0 run in this basketball game."
McCain gained ground because Obama took a five-day vacation, and Russia invaded Georgia, Durbin said.

Hill & Bill will be conducting a training class for Obamski:
Repeat after us: “Mistakes were made.....”
Lost momentum -
like Wile E Coyote ramming his jetbike into a cliff.
Well they are just waiting for him to raise his shepard stick and part the Red Sea.
There is no lost momentum. Actually, this is the culmination of their reality show. They were more concerned about the drama of choosing a candidate and the ratings for their show in Arabia and Germany. That show is over. Now they are ready to pack up and go home.
That's because Durbin doesn't reason; he emotes.
There’s a song in the Broadway show “Promises, Promises” in which a guy in love gets giddy over the idea that “she likes basketball,” and his favorite girl likes his favorite sport. I assume the idea is to fill 51% of voters with an equally irrational emotion to get them to fall in love with Obama. Maybe “She Likes Basketball” could be his campaign theme song. They could even change the “she” to “he,” if they feel it’s actually necessary.
I’m not very good with photoshop, but someone who is could have a lot of fun with this pic:

Lost, my @$$. He's losing ground.
Telling stories is a lot of the reason why people don't trust him, though...
Well, at least this time, it's not Bush's fault.
Quote: “But Obama plans to win through telling his story, talking about his plans for the country,. . .”
Yah yah, “hope and change, real change we can believe in.’ That is about the extent of it, because if Barry was honest or provided any detail about his real plans for the country, his election hopes would be dead.
Poor Obambi is in foul trouble and had to hit the bench (go on vacation). Now they brought in Biden who is known to be pretty foul himself. Matter of fact, the whole Dem team is pretty foul.
...” telling his story...”
and boy can he tell a story!
While I was watching a bit of FNC this morning, there were trailers that give a preview of his story that he’s going to share.
One said he father was an economist from Kenya. Is that what they’re calling goat herders these days.
Another story makes the claim that he was born in Hawaii. That hasn’t been verified yet. A “Registry of Birth” is not the same thing.
Another story is that he grew up mostly in Kansas. Now he’s thrown his step-father under the bus.
And then I turned off the TV.
And just a sidenote — Obama says he can’t wait to hear Michelle’s speech tonight. She’s probably going to announce her pregnancy which will get the screaming throngs to their feet and then he’ll come out on the stage for a hug and pretend her pregnancy is something he did all by himself.
Now Barack may not qulaify as an NFL thug but I guess I could still get excited by a Marxist neophyte pick-up B-ball player. Hey he wants change and brings hope after all.
Maybe its me, but.... 1. If a Republican said this of a black candidate, he'd be crucified by the MSM for condescension and racism. I half expected Durbin to say he liked fried chicken and watermellon too. 2. Since when does loving and playing basketball qualify someone to be POTUS?
We don’t want a story. We don’t want a rock star. We don’t want Mr.Smooth. We don’t want a Marxist.
I happen to agree with you but on the other hand, you have to admit with Obama’s lack of experience or a single accomplishment (other than getting himself elected) to point to, Turbin Durbin had to point to something.
