New York and 11 other states are suing federal environmental regulators over greenhouse gas emissions from oil refineries, the New York attorney general's office said on Monday.
The suit, led by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, charges that the Environmental Protection Agency violated the federal Clean Air Act by refusing to issue standards, known as new source performance standards, for controlling global warming pollution emissions from oil refineries.
Note: Other states in the suit are California, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. New York City and Washington D.C. also joined in the litigation.

Gasoline, road tar, diesel, heating oil, plastic, pharmaceuticals, and jobs, jobs, jobs.
Just when you think they have reached the epitomy of stupidity, they find another pinnacle to scale.

It doesn't matter if refineries cut their 'greenhouse gas' emissions; it will never be green enough for the liberal envirowacko wing of the Democrat Party:
Greens Thwart Gasoline Production
"... The Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council, or NRDC, successfully pressured the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to block ConocoPhillips expansion of its Roxana, Ill., gasoline refinery, which processes heavy crude oil from Canada, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
The project would have expanded the volume of Canadian crude processed from 60,000 barrels per day to more than 500,000 barrels a day by 2015. After the Illinois EPA had approved the expansion, the green groups petitioned the federal EPA to block it, alleging ConocoPhillips wasnt using the best available technology for reducing emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
Apparently, the plants planned 95 percent reduction in sulfur dioxide emissions and 25 percent reduction in nitrogen oxides wasnt green enough..."

I suspect that when it comes to humanity, intelligence has its limit, but stupidity knows no bounds.

What ticks me off even more is the fact that these morons use their BASELESS rhetoric to try and back up their claims of carbon-based emissions driving up temperatures.... when there is so much science out there disproving this MYTH!!! And of course we all know why they are doing this b/c they KNOW that drilling offshore will pass as well as exploration and drilling in AK, CO, MT, WY, NM... they are trying to contrive MORE ROADBLOCKS to the US ACTUALLY becoming less energy dependent. If you voted democrat at any time in the last 20 years.... you voted for higher prices at the pump, to heat your home, everytime you go to the grocery store.... oh heck you voted to increase your cost of living in EVERY way.... period! You also voted to increase the strength of people like Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Putin....

“I thought that water vapor was the main greenhouse gas”
Exactly. Plus the “carbon” used in the title is carbon dioxide. What a crock!

EPA: "Ya know, guys. You're right. We're sorry. Starting tomorrow, not only are we going to enforce existing regulations, we're going develop even MORE stringent regulations....just for your states. WAY MORE stringent. It's the least we can do to make it up to you and show our gratitude for your..uh..vigilance. In fact, we're so sorry, we're even going to throw in a full scale advertising campaign free of charge to let everyone in your states know that it was THEIR representatives that showed us the light. That's right, a ton of FREE publicity just for you. After all, you deserve it. Sincerely, your friends at the Environmental Protection Agency of the President George W. Bush Administration. XOXOXO"

Richardson’s doing his best to shut down the industry here in NM. We have a couple of refineries that are expanding to meet demand and comply with existing AQ rules and now that new technology will be almost worthless because it doesn’t address CO2. Nothing like trying to make a problem out of something that isn’t.
But, of course McCain won’t be any better on this; he’s swallowed the environut’s Kool-aid.
