12 states sue EPA on refinery carbon emissions

New York and 11 other states are suing federal environmental regulators over greenhouse gas emissions from oil refineries, the New York attorney general's office said on Monday.

The suit, led by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, charges that the Environmental Protection Agency violated the federal Clean Air Act by refusing to issue standards, known as new source performance standards, for controlling global warming pollution emissions from oil refineries.

Note: Other states in the suit are California, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. New York City and Washington D.C. also joined in the litigation.

I guess these states can do without refined gasoline.

The Wicked Witch of Ohio needs to get on the ball, no wonder Obama didn’t pick her. Kansas isn’t on the list, she’s getting behind.

Then again, scaring away a $10 billion refinery by jumping all over a $2billion coal plant is a novel technique.

Yep, isn’t this a great subject? (sarcasm). At a time when refining capacity is a problem, and we haven’t been able to build new refineries in this country for years, we’re going to sue over regulating their greenhouse gases.

Okay, what’s the end game of the lawsuit? If the refineries are not in compiance with whatever standards they come up with, what then? Shut them down? Even if it causes gas shortages and price spikes due to artificial tightening of the gas supply?

This lawsuit seems ill-advised to me. Hope it gets thrown out.

But hey, let's not blame high gas prices on the democrats......no...........it's all those evil Big Oil men, Bush and Cheney that are to blame.

Are the voters possibly that stupid?

If the RNC was smart they would run advertising about LAWSUITS that hold up oil production AND mention the parties behind those actions. The American people don’t see what shows up in Free Republic, only what is on MSM, so they rarely put two and two together. Just as legal action have driven up medical costs, so too the price of oil and gas.

They’ll be found to be outside some arbitrary guideline, because what is the point of issuing the guidelines if you’re not going to find them in violation?

Then they will be required to pay some kind of monthly “fine” to the state government of maybe a couple million per month.

And they will be required to pay for some kind of “offset”, either buying “credits” from the carbon credit mafia, or else buying land and donating it to the park service. All of this will increase the cost of gasoline at the pump, because corporations don’t pay taxes, they collect them. They don’t pay fines or offsets, they collect the money from the customer.

From the article;

The suit said about 15 percent of U.S. industrial emissions of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, come from crude refineries, which burn some oil as they make products like gasoline and jet fuel.

Gee, and here I thought that water vapor was the main greenhouse gas. Live and learn.

Alrighty then...

Fact One: We are dependent on gasoline.

Fact Two: Our refinery emissions are better then the majority of the countries out there.

Fact Three: If this ban goes into effect...it will push oil refinery out of our country and into another country with worse refinery emissions...thus increasing carbon emissions that the eco-terrorists are soooo concerned about.

This is the worst idea ever on so many levels.

When they shut down a refinery or two, then those states can do without gasoline or diesel fuel.

Finally someone believes like I do. Go one step further, any fee levied on local business also result in increase in the cost to consumers. All businesses must return a profit, so when taxes are increased, goodbye business. Expand this to every increase government makes and no matter what cute word they call it is paid by the consumer.

The same people who accuse President Bush of abusing executive power and intruding into powers delegated to congress are now demanding that the executive branch write EPA regulations without consulting congress.

Wow! Guess my #7 was a bit harsh for some people. OK, OK, I will merely run those people off my property. To those well-meaning, environmentally concerned citizens who are allied with these cretins, I recommend that they separate themselves from these individuals and groups. I suspect that there’s a storm coming. People just won’t put up with this crap forever. I won’t be a part of it, but I don’t want the decent, concerned citizens getting caught in the crosshairs, either.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, son of dumba$$ former Governor Mario Cuomo.

Question: Mario...why did you lose the 1994 election?

Mario’s Answer: The Death Penalty ( Cuomo opposed Pataki supported)

Correct Answer: The 55MPH speed limit. Mario said “ the speed limit in NY will remain 55MPH as long as I am governor”. All those libs from NYC driving to their vacation homes on Lake George, and skiing in Vermont got tired of having the boot of the state police at their throats while on the NYS Thruway, and poof Mario is in the dustbin of history. NY may not have the death penalty, but the speed limit is 65MPH.
