ATLANTA Bob Barr, a former Georgia congressman and the Libertarian Partys nominee for president, responds to concerns that hell siphon votes from Republican John McCain.
The fact of the matter is the Republican Party has problems that go far deeper than Bob Barr, he said.
Barr is fundraising in Georgia over the weekend.
Our goal is to impede the chances to be president for both Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama, Barr added.
Barr is one of two former Georgia congressional representatives running on third party tickets. Cynthia McKinney is the Green Partys presidential nominee.
I’d say he’s definitely done a “Pat Buchanan”.
President Bush, who did not keep his word, pretty much gave us Perot and a Clinton victory. He had the White House to keep and couldn't pull it off. Had Bush kept his word and been a President worth re-electing, Perot would not have run.
Barr reminds me of Don Quixote: “At this point they came in sight of thirty forty windmills that there are on plain, and as soon as Don Quixote saw them he said to his squire, “Fortune is arranging matters for us better than we could have shaped our desires ourselves, for look there, friend Sancho Panza, where thirty or more monstrous giants present themselves, all of whom I mean to engage in battle and slay, and with whose spoils we shall begin to make our fortunes; for this is righteous warfare, and it is God’s good service to sweep so evil a breed from off the face of the earth.”
Has to go down as one of the stupidest statements of all time. One or the other is going to win. You either help the winner or impede the loser.
Barr won’t make a ripple.
ElRon’s numbers in the general would’ve been dismal... and Barr won’t even approach that pathetic showing.
This is the most stupid thing I have heard. Hey, Barr, then who? You a@@. Don't get your hopes up, President you will never be.
Now that everyone seems to want to be 'green' it's a wonder Nader isn't a choice. This demonstrates perfectly how slow democracies are in adapting to changing times.
But it gets worse: We could elect Tom Tancredo tommorrow and by the end of his second term a quarter million Mexicans would still be pouring across the border each year.
Bureaucratic inertia and holdovers from previous administrations are a big part of the problem. That's why we MUST have smaller government. Our survival is at stake here.
We can lay on our big fat ass and hope that during an emergency the fire crews will be able to chainsaw an opening to drag us to safety, or we can lose some of the weight. Obesity may be a problem in the populace, but it's nothing compared to the lethargy and inactivity taking place in government, regardless which party is in control. No wonder there is so much apathy, the parties are considered the 'same' because they both accomplish about the same: not much.
Sort of reminds you of Alan Keyes, doesn't he? Seems Freepers often get in bed with the strangest of people because they agreed with us on an issue. When we later peel away the layers, we seem to find a rotted core.
She’s not going to win, what’s it matter? The more votes the Green Party gets anyway, the more it hurts the Democrats.
If his goal isn't to win, why would anyone waste their vote?
So Barr is admitting that he’s just a stinker in this campaign. He has no chance of winning, he just wants to try to mess things up for either candidate, but I’m sure he’s really itching to screw John McCain’s chances.
aclu boob barr is an egotistic tired old politician who did not have the nerve to face GOP primary voters after join America’s enemy the aclu. Now he is hoping to feel beter with some votes from people who don’t really know him.
He WILL help McCain by drawing off the archie bunker democrats who “Can’t vote for a colored guy, a Jew a Catholic or a Republican.”
Get the egotists who want to be “The Leader of the Free World” out of the way and go to some districts out west or in the deep south there a few million might win some Congressional seats. Give me 8 or so Reps and 3 Senators and I'll have the Dems and the Repubs dancing to my tune.
