I think Biden was overall a “meh” pick as far as America is concerned. McCain has a lot of options that could be more energizing. Palin would be one. I think Lieberman is another. Romney - well, he may have some desired conservative credentials, but I still think he would be a “meh” pick.

The VP should be chosen to be able to serve as President if necessary, not what works best against the opposite party. Mistake number one of the Dems. Does anyone in America think Biden could/should be president of this country if necessary? Not thinking people.

McCain should choose who he thinks could serve if he cannot.

Is there any indication that McCain has even talked to Palin?

Yes he would. But I don’t think that he would want to, and who could blame him?

My vote is for Chief Deputy Whip Eric Cantor.

I think that the argument against Big Oil is weak when two thirds of the electorate want to drill offshore.

I'm a huge fan of Palin and I hope McCain picks her. But...

As good as Mitt Romney is as a vice-presidential choice, Palin anyone who isn't a slimy, medicine socializing, fraud is even better.

Yep, Palin is the best choice particularly after the how many homes keffufle. I hope McCain finds the guts to make it.

I have never heard of her, except on Freep. So, I doubt if the mass of the population knows who she is.

Alaska? That certainly won’t help McCain.

A woman? Women mostly vote Dem anyway.

A Lieberman pick would be the same as a Biden pick. He is also an abortionist and would turn off too many people.

Actually, Biden was the best of the bunch. Many republicans I know wanted him for the Presidency rather than McCain. It was a smart choice. If McCain takes Romney, it’s all over.

Can’t agree. Biden would eat Palin or Pawlenty alive in the VP debate. She’s good, but unprepared for the demands of the national stage.

Romney is telegenic, will stand up to Biden, and get Joe to lose his temper.

My cat would bring as many electoral votes to the table as Palin.

Even McCain is not that rock hard stupid.
Checkmate only comes when more electoral votes are tallied in your column, and palin brings none at all.

Lets stay in the real world.

Exactly, and while I think anybody McCain would pick is more qualified than Obama...I don't want to see him choosing a running mate based on a "gotcha" scenario to the Dems choice.

I think she’d be an excellent candidate but would a woman with a newborn son (with Down’s syndrome) really be that likely to want to run at this time?

I think Palin would be great for all reasons mentioned. Philosophically speaking, I get the point about having someone who could serve as President should something happen to McCain. Realistically and politically speaking, that does little if you pick someone with those credentials yet does little in helping ensure a victory in the first place. Unless you are counting on McCain not lasting 3-4 years at least (at which point any VP pick would be fine) I don’t think her lack of experience is detrimental. I would take her now over Obama. I’d rather see a McCain/Palin with a win than a McCain/Romney/Pawlenty with a loss...

But with the Biden pick, Obama has basically kissed the south, Virginia, and anything in between good-bye.

: ) My money is on John Edwards being his initial wish.
