FPN to Launch BOYCOTTHALLMARK.COM Over Gay “Wedding” Cards
Family Policy Network ^ | 8-23-08 | FPN

Posted on 08/23/2008 3:23:32 AM PDT by TheAverageGuy

A full-scale boycott against the world’s largest greeting card company will begin next week, prompted by the introduction of new products intended to congratulate recipients of so-called “gay wedding” and “civil union” contracts in states that recently began granting them to homosexual couples.

The pro-family campaign against Hallmark Cards, Inc. is being orchestrated by the nationally-organized Family Policy Network (FPN), which is based in Forest, Virginia. Several state-based pro-family groups are participating in the boycott, and their names will be featured on the boycott website when it is launched next week.

FPN Policy Analyst Alex Mason stated Friday that whenever evangelicals were informed of Hallmark’s pro-homosexual cards, interest was high in holding the card-maker accountable. He said, “Up to this point, Hallmark’s brand was pretty wholesome. If they don’t reconsider this endorsement of immorality, they’ll lose more customers than they stand to gain.” He added, “We hope our efforts to hold them accountable will help them see the light.”

An official announcement from Family Policy Network concerning BOYCOTTHALLMARK.COM will be distributed to national media outlets and the group’s supporters in all 50 states next week.

Because homosexuality is deviant, dangerous, disgusting behavior that must be tolerated but should not be celebrated. This is the mainstreaming of the aberrant and naturalizing of the unnatural.

This is a fight of decency and god vs indecency and evil.

I once went to a Chinese restaurant that was a favorite of the local Chinese people. I was served what smelled for all the world like a steaming pile of composting grass clippings on a plate, and it disgusted me.

Japanese people eat fungu, which is a sushi made from the puffer fish, the organs of which contain a highly-lethal neurotoxin.

Should we thus rally around the restaurant with pitchforks and torches demanding that people stop this disgusting and dangerous behavior?

What ever happened to “live and let live?” Why do you find a greeting card with two tuxedos on it so threatening? It’s not as though that if there were no greeting cards, there’d be no same-sex relationships, so what difference does a greeting card make in the grand scheme of things?

Because developing a taste for bizarre food is not the same as developing a taste for deviant sex.

Accepting its existence is one thing, but elevating the sexual preferences of these people to the realm of normal or that which is to be celebrated is an affront to decent society.

Would you find cards that celebrated polygamist Muslim marriages acceptable? Consenting adult incest unions?

These things, like the food you mentioned, may exist, but polite decent society does not condone or encourage them. That is what this is about.

No one is talking about either criminalizing the acts or the cards. We are simply saying that this is a poor business decision and we aim to help them see it.

I’ll not support a company that supports this kind of behavior. Being conservative is a helluva lot more than just being for low taxes and a strong military.

Why does it matter? It doesn't cost me anything when they're made, and I'm not required to buy them, or even pick them up off the rack.

I'm far more offended that I'm forced to pay, via my taxes, a share of $336 million to Planned Parenthood in a year in order to snuff out the lives of innocent, defenseless babies, but it's against the law to boycott the government by keeping your own money.

Compared to that, two men or two women committing to spend their lives with one another is a glowing beacon of wholesome Americana.

Expending so much energy over a few sappy, nondescript greeting cards is a waste of precious energy that could go to winning hearts and minds to the cause of life and liberty, something that this feel-good hysterical "think of the children" boycott nonsense is doing the opposite of.

We should concentrate on world-proofing our children with the Holy Armor of the love of the Almighty, instead of trying to child-proof the world and forcing others to permit us to avoid having to explain things that are difficult or uncomfortable to explain.

Straw man. I never said the key reason was protecting children from the greeting cards aisle.

I said that the issue here was the Hallmark company is endorsing, celebratri8ng, and helping to mainstream, disgusting, evil, unnatural, dangerous sexually deviant behavior - which DOES have a negative effect on society as a whole - and it is both proper and logical to make the decision to NOT reward them for this behavior by withdrawing your patronage.

It they created sympathy cards for abortions with proceeds going to “planned parenthood” would you feel the same way?

Do you have a problem with anal sexual relations between heterosexuals? Is your objection with both people being of the same sex?

yes and yes

why do you not?

Do you think they should be married becsuse of that they like to do sexually?

The fact that these people think they should be married and then tell people what they do is just down right disgusting.

I said heterosexuals not homosexuals.

Guess I won’t.

Yeah I’m okay with two men having sex, as long as it’s kept in their house and they expect no legal recognition of their relationship. I don’t believe a proper role of the government is to stop people from having sex with each other, as long as it is consensual and both people are of age.

I guess you have a problem with that?

As for a man and a woman having sex, why would I have any problem with that? I certainly don’t. That is what I do.

To: LiberalsSpendYourMoney

your guess about me having a problem with two men having sex is correct but if it is in the bedroom and not where it can be seen I will not be vocal however when it is in public and it is being shown to us and we are told to be accepted of it then yes I have a problem

hopefully this makes sense as I am trying to do this in a rush and deal wit other things right now

Do the proceeds from these Hallmark cards go to anyone other than Hallmark shareholders? I didn't notice anything at all about such an angle. At least unlike the government's funding of Planned Parenthood, I could opt out by not buying the cards.

And if they thought they could make money from selling abortion sympathy cards, why wouldn't they? They make cards for essentially every other major life event, including miscarriage and infertility. And there's already a company selling e-cards for abortion.
