The fun thing about an Obama-Biden ticket is that the McCain campaign can point to a new awkward comment by Joe Biden either on the importance of experience, in praise of McCain, or in support of invading Iraq that contradicts the stands and qualities of the Democratic nominee for every day from now until Election Day.
On McCain:
Biden, on a post-debate appearance on MSNBC, October 30, 2007:
The only guy on the other side whos qualified is John McCain.
Biden appearing on The Daily Show, August 2, 2005:
John McCain is a personal friend, a great friend, and I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off, be well off no matter who...
On Meet the Press, November 27, 2005:
Ive been calling for more troops for over two years, along with John McCain and others subsequent to my saying that.
On Obama:
Reacting to an Obama speech on counterterrorism, August 1, 2007:
Look, the truth is the four major things he called for, well, hell thats what I called for, Biden said today on MSNBCs Hardball, echoing comments he made earlier in the day at an event promoting his book at the National Press Club. Biden added, Im glad hes talking about these things.
*snip*
Speaking to the New York Observer:
Biden was equally skeptical albeit in a slightly more backhanded way about Mr. Obama. I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy, he said. I mean, thats a storybook, man.

Here’s are some quick pros:
1. Biden’s experience with international affairs is heralded with his title, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
2. Biden knows how to play the important vice presidential role of attack dog, as he did during the debate over Supreme Court nominees Clarence Thomas and Robert Bork.
3. He could help shore up a couple of important constituencies for Obama: white Catholics and Latinos. Obama struggled with both groups in the Democratic primary. Biden’s working-class Catholic background could help with that set of voters, and both his faith and his support for more liberal immigration laws might appeal to Latinos.
4. Biden is more moderate than most people think. His high-profile role in judicial nominations gives him a liberal image, but he is a centrist on many issues both foreign and domestic.
*****
And a few cons:
1. Biden could say anything at any time — ranging from the incisive to the insightful to the funny to the offensive to the weird. Reporters love it; presidential campaign aides not so much.
2. The Experience Trap: Biden’s long foreign policy resume and facility with international affairs could draw even more attention to the thinner record of Obama, who is a junior member of Biden’s committee.
If Obama is seen as the least ready of the four presidential and vice presidential nominees between the two parties, it could be harmful to him. Then again, picking a running mate with little or no foreign policy or national security experience might be worse.
3. It is also a pro, but Biden is more moderate than most people think. He has parted with liberal Democratic orthodoxy on any number of issues, including — but not limited to — his support for a ban on late-term (or partial birth) abortions, free trade, tax cuts for married couples, and — way back when — legislation intended to prevent the busing of students to achieve desegregation of schools.

If McCain wants to go after Biden’s comments about Obama, then McCain CAN’T pick Romney, because there are many clips of McCain and Romney going at it.
"Uh Joe, uh, you uh, let me do the, uh, talking."
You forgot when Joe Biden said, “If we go into Iraq, it will take us four score and seven years to get out.”
It’s another wrinkled white-haired dude.
EEEKKK!
Excellent !
Biden has the perfect defense: He can just claim that he plagiarized all those statements from other people.
I remember in the 1980s when Joe Biden sang Ebony and Ivory on MTV. Or maybe...
The next Republican that tells me Im not religious, Im gonna shove my rosary beads down their throat!
Joe Biden (D-Hairclub for Men) -—Then Biden puts a hand on the reporters shoulder and with demonic pleasure lights into Tom DeLay. The guy hasnt talked to members of his family in I dont know how many years, he says. “Limbaugh Wants Obama-Biden Ticket”
Plus every other conservative radio talk show host.
“The only thing missing is the : s , n , l , and a
( s , n , l , a ) = Saturday Night Live Act”
you guys here are way too smart and witty - took the words right out of my mouth just before I was going to reply! :-)))))))))
“BIDEN-Obama isnt ready to be President and the job is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.
yes, agree with Rush - this could be our “dream team”. Will be fun to see how Biden wiggles out of this and many, many more embarrassingquotes. of course, he could say - “well, that was over a year ago. now, he’s (obama) had another solid year of intense campaign and speech experience”.
again, McCain’s been given more gold to work with (in addition to the energy crisis) - now USE it!!!
Wasn’t that on Saturday Night Live?
I like that!!
Yes, the Democrat arrogance factor is officially off the charts, these are two of the most arrogant people alive.
Also, they are two of the three most left-wing US Senators on voting record, IIRC, and the other is the officially SOCIALIST Bernie Sanders of VT. So it will be easy to show that the Obama/Biden ticket is really the ticket for the Socialist Party USA.
Thanks, Obamacons, in desperately grabbing for a VP candidate with foreign policy “experience” (not that Biden’s judgment is worth much), you have set us up with such an easy ticket to block. So many juicy opportunities, not enough time.......
