Assault rifles, rocket launchers, tanks, uniforms... All that stuff the Russians have taken from the Georgian soldiers during the conflict, that lasted several days. Now they're boasting, showing the results of their looting to the tourists.
The Russian army have organised an exhibition in Sukhumi (Abkhazia), where they're showing what they've taken from the Georgians.
The weapons - mainly from the USA, Germany and Israel - looks, like it's brand new, straight from the factory. Probably its Western origins was the reason, why the Russians wanted to show it - to prove, that the Georgians have been supported by other countries, mainly by the Americans.
I say it's time we send the Russians a few more American weapons...

I may simply be impatient, but I am losing faith that we will do anything to restore what belongs to Georgia that Russia stole, including their property, security and independence. Or maybe it’s just that lunch is late...
Stolen?
How about “captured”?
Captured implies they took it from enemy forces. Stolen is what happens when you break into warehouses owned by third parties and take equipment that belongs to non-involved parties.
“Captured?”
I didn’t know Georgia invaded Russia using pontoons.
I didn’t know Russia had a right to enter Georgia and to loot its military storage.
They didn't want her to leave the country because she was so small and didn't talk. 19 pounds. Wore a size 18 months. She was not a good example of Russian-ness you see.
We had to fly out at the last minute when the orphanage director was on vacation, because the humanitarian group we were working with was afraid the director would stop us from taking her when we got there.
Word was the Russians were going to send her to a mental home where they drug the kids and tie them to the beds. I have the video where the doc talks about all the horrid things that were supposedly wrong with her. We had to fight tooth and nail to get them to let us adopt her.
She is now an awesome 14 yo, bright, speaks perfect English, and well-liked by everyone. The staff I work with think she is beautiful and so do I. :-)
Oh and she gets along with her brother, adopted from Georgia, just fine.
What’s that assault rifle the Russian soldier is holding?
The barrel looks to have a silencer wrapped around it.
O Come Now, In war, when you win, you take the foes stuff and show it off. Its just the way it is and has been for many thousands of years. The very first museum in the world at Alexandria was full of things Alexander the Great captured and displayed. We may not like it, but Russia won this round. Some of the stuff looked brand new like it was never fired—perhaps dropped once.
You can see what Georgia imported via the following.

Why is diplaying ‘spoils of conflict’ such a surprise? It has been going on since armed conflict began. Look at all the spoils of conflict that the U.S. obtained after the defeat of Nazi Germany?
The British SAS are still using helicopters captured from the Argentines in 1982. The RAF are still flying captured Argentine helicopters and using pieces of captured examples for spares. Waste not want not!
This Half Jewish Russian -Ukrainian orthodox girl I know had to come her with her family because the Russian Mob warned her Jewish father to leave in 91’ because his little business was to successful for the locals. They couldn’t have a JEW showing everyone in the town that he was doing better than everyone else who drank , gambled, fought and thugged their way through life.
VSS ‘Vintorez’ silenced sniper rifle (USSR/Russia)
Caliber: 9x39mm SP-5 and SP-6 subsonic cartridges
Action: auto, selective fire, gas-operated, striker-fired.
Length: 894mm
Barrel length: 200 mm
Weight: empty: 2.6 kg, loaded w. scope PSO-1: 3.41 kg
Magazine: 10 or 20 rounds detachable box
VSS (Vinovka Snaiperskaja Spetsialnaya = Special Sniper Rifle) was designed for special operations. Designed at TSNIITochMash (Central Institute for Precision Machine Building) by team lead by Petr Serdjukov, the new rifle was intended to replace some AK-47/AKM rifles, fitted with silencers, in the hands of various Special Operations (SpetsNaz) troops of Soviet Army, KGB and MVD. To achieve desired lethality against targets, protected with body armor, TSNIITochMash had to develop a new subsonic cartridge, based on the 7.62x39 case, necked out for 9mm bullet. The bullets used in new cartridges are long and heavy (about 16 gram), and of ball (SP-5) and AP (SP-6) type. The latter bullet features a hardened steel penetrator as the core, and can defeat most military issue body armors at ranges up to 300-400 meters. VSS is in use since late 1980s, and is widely used in Chechnya against separatists. VSS is quite popular among its users for its stealthy capabilities and great lethality of heavy 9mm bullets. The effective range of VSS is limited to 300-400 meters.
The VSS is a gas operated, selective fire weapon. The long stroke gas piston is located above the barrel. The rotating bolt has 6 lugs and locks into the receiver, which is machined from solid steel for greater strength. The trigger unit differs significantly from AK-47 type firearms, being striker-fired. The safety switch and charging handle are AK-style, but the fire selector is a cross-bolt button, located inside the triggerguard, behind the trigger.
The barrel at the front has a set of tiny holes, drilled in the rifling grooves, which lead into the integral silencer. The silencer is the integral part of the weapon, and while it could be easily removed for storage or maintenance, the VSS should not be fired wit silencer removed.
Standard sighting equipment consists of side rail on the receiver, which usually accommodates the 4X PSO-1 scope, graduated for 9x39 ammo. Any other scope or night vision sight can be mounted on appropriate mount. backup iron sights consist of tangent rear and blade front. Rear sight is graduated up to 400 meters.
The wooden, skeletonized buttstock is fitted with rubber buttplate and can be removed for compact storage and transportation, the compact forend is made from polymer.
Feeding is achieved from 10 or 20 round box magazines, made from polymer.
Military equipment was “owned by third parties and take equipment that belongs to non-involved parties.”?
