CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama called some people on his shortlist for the vice presidential slot Thursday night to tell them he had not selected them as a running mate, a highly placed Democratic Party source said.

Obama has told some other potential running mates over the last few weeks that he would not be choosing them.
Obama is expected to appear at a rally Saturday with his vice presidential choice in Springfield, Illinois.
The presumptive Democratic nominee is at home Friday in Chicago, Illinois, with no public events planned before launching a string of rallies with his running mate ahead of the Democratic National Convention next week in Denver, Colorado.
Hopefully the military vote would be too dumbfounded by the stuff Obama says to notice Chet.

Edwards is a Dem that holds a seat in a pretty Conservative part of Texas. His district is fairly rural but includes Fort Hood, Waco (and Baylor University) as well as the Bryan/College Station area and Texas A&M.
One military base and two of the more conservative Universities you’ll find anywhere ... and yet Edwards has carried it fairly easily.
Unless they verify this news by posting a fake birth certificate at BarackObama.com, I’m not buying it. :)

Chet Edwards was my congressman for many years.
He is a typical democrat, a smarmy a-hole. He votes both sides of lots of issues in order to obscure his voting record in a conservative district.
He is very liberal.

Fort Hood is not in Edwards’ district. It used to be before redistricting several years ago.
Thankfully, we have been spared his left wing idiocy for a while now.
Because they printed a million Obama/Edwards bumperstickers a month ago and it would be a shame to waste them.
