Is the plane already on its way? Steve Clemons of the New America Foundation and the Washington Note reports that a key Biden staffer has cut short his family vacation in Hawaii to return to D.C.:
Biden has a few people he’s had around forever and some new additions to his insider crowd. Three of the best — though there are more I won’t mention — are Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chief of Staff Antony Blinken, Senate Foreign Relations General Counsel Brian McKeon, and Senate Office Chief of Staff and former Biden presidential campaign director Luis Navarro.
Working Mother magazine — the journal of record for juggling moms — just commended Joe Biden and his staff with its “Best of Congress Award”. And along with Biden’s “family friendly” disposition with his office staff, he said “get out of here” to Foreign Relations Committee Chief of Staff Tony Blinken who went off to Hawaii to vacation with his family.
Blinken enjoyed the surf and sun for about two days — and then guess what, he’s back in D.C. I know that he would not be thrilled by my reporting this.
And some in the Foreign Relations Committee office in the Senate have said that I should not read anything in to his being back in Washington.

Something is up — and it’s very good.

Below text from a post I made earlier today on another thread, for your amusement, while you wait.
As expected, I have a prediction. For which I must insert that my prognostication skills aren’t all that great but I’m right up there with Dick Morris.
As for Joe Biden....myself can’t help but hope this is true as Biden has been mine own Senator since I moved to Delaware five years ago and he’s been Delaware’s senator since 1972. As an aside, here’s the scoop in GOP circles: if Biden runs for VP....and WINS....then the Governor of Delaware will appoint the replacement for the senatorial position as Biden will also be running for senator, much like Joe Lieberman did.
Governor Nanny Minner of Delaware would then appoint BEAU Biden, Joe’s son...yes....they’re everywhere here in Delaware. Beau got elected last cycle as the state’s Attorney General and a few years before this he went through puberty.
BUT....I learn that Beau is in the National Guard and scheduled to go to Iraq, well God Bless This now cause Joe Biden is the kid’s father yet he’s going to Iraq, gotta admire this. Scuttlebutt is that Nanny Minner would appoint HERSELF as Senator. Minner is finishing up her eight year term as Governor at any rate so she can’t continue on. Delaware does this kind of stuff all the time. It’s cause we’re so small.
Mike Castle was GOVERNOR of Delaware for two terms and he’s been the Representative, Delaware’s one and only, for going on ten terms now.
How about that? A Governor appoints her own self to be senator! You can’t make this stuff up. Thought y’all might enjoy some political speculation. Round here it’s been a hoot!
Anyway, ole Joe....I dunno. First, if I were Joe Biden I’d have too much pride to be Barack’s VP, go to hell. Joe Biden could eat Barack for lunch in terms of experience and knowing where the bodies are. Yeah I know Joe is known far and wide for his gaffes and plagiarism but I’m gonna state right now you’re wrong. Joe Biden was the very BEST in those early Democratic debates. At least as I see it and many pundits and many Freepers. Joe Biden will be beloved by the American public. He’s got a sad story, he’s got longevity, he has an almost evil yet beguiling cheshire cat smile, he speaks blunt and as a result he puts foot in mouth. It don’t matter. The ladies in the beauty parlor love him here in Delaware and even I tend to be protective in that, leave him alone, he might be a doofus but he’s OUR doofus. ;)
I just can’t wrap my mind around Biden agreeing to be VP to Obama. A senator since 1972, head of several powerful committees, a quintessential politician who knows where the bodies are buried and is way more likeable than many of you give him credit.
But assuming Biden will sell his pride and stock to be VP, with the eventuality of a Pres. run...well Biden’s practical enough to do this while I wouldn’t even want to get up in the morning.
As for Hillary.....it just ain’t gonna happen. Barack his radical self and his lovely, fine and friendly wife Michelle, will flat out resign should the DNC insist on a Hillary VP. Which is happening right NOW as I speculate and you read.
Bayh?
I think it’s gonna be Bayh. Bayh isn’t well known and as powerful as Biden. Bayh likely won’t be as big of a problem as Biden would be...sheesh I can’t still imagine an Obama/Biden presidency.
Like I said, I’m right about as often as Dick Morris.
Keep that in mind.

Very interesting analysis. I’m actually pretty surprised that Biden (seems as though) would agree to run as VP. It would make sense the other way around.
