NBC/WSJ poll: McCain Closing Gap on Obama(only half of Hillary's supporters backing Obama)

Barack Obama’s lead in the presidential race has nearly disappeared, a combination of news from abroad, Republican attacks at home and Hillary Clinton voters who have not rallied behind Sen. Obama.

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows that as Democrats prepare to gather in Denver for their national convention next week, the Obama campaign’s biggest challenge may be attracting Sen. Clinton’s supporters to his campaign. Only half the people who voted for Sen. Clinton in the primaries said they are now supporting Sen. Obama. One in five is supporting Sen. McCain.

Overall, the poll finds the race a statistical dead heat, with 45% favoring Sen. Obama and 42% Sen. McCain. That three-point Obama advantage is down from six points a month ago, a trend found in other national polls as well. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points

Its never Obama's fault! He's smart and will never ever lose! Its just a bad week.

Apparently this is “voters,” which I take to mean “registered” voters and not “likely” voters. If true, this is even or a McCain lead.

We on the right have been too efficacious in the past 2 weeks. We have wacked Obama so badly that we now have a poll with McCain 5 points ahead of Obama. This will cause Obama to pick the beast for the VP slot. I do not want this. Obama can pick anyone but the beast.

Obviously, these results are above his pay grade.

There are indications that he just might pick her. I doubt if that will help in the long run, but the “pundits” will go wild and declare the election a Democrat sweep.

However, she comes with a lot of baggage. This could get really nasty.

Keep in mind...Mondale, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry ALL had double digit "leads" at this time in the race...

It seems like many people are totally digusted with politicians from either party. I sense a great deal of mistrust and lack of support except from the hard core party loyalists which are still completely polarized.

Plus, those who claim this now, if they do vote, will likely pull for Hillary in the booth.

There's a huge downside to picking Hillary as VP. Republicans who are lackluster about McCain could get energized against Hillary, wherever she is on the ticket.

I think you are right and that's certainly what I'm hoping.

I think something is up with the Obama VP pick. Seems like it was pretty certain he was naming someone Tue/Wed. My guess is now it will have to be on Thursday. Friday and the weekend are not good news times.

My guess is somebody (I hear Michelle) axed whoever Barak was getting ready to name. (Biden) Now back to the drawing board. Sounds like Michelle is going to be another shadow president like Hillary. Maybe even worse.

To all
I am not so sure Obama picking “The Beast” would be all that effective. my reasons are:

1) People vote for a President, not a Vice-President,
2) A significant portion of the pro-Obama primary vote was a “I-am-sick-of-the-Clintons” vote! Many democrats are tired of the Clintons.
3) An Obama-Hillary ticket would energize the GOP base like nothing else!
4) It would look weird !

The problem is that the division between the obamatons and the beastpeople will evaporate at once. No dissention at the convention. Cumbaya time. The MSM will have an organsm over the ‘ultimate’ ticket. The media will give them, literally, a billion dollars worth of positive coverage.

The Beastpeople will automatically go with the ticket. They will not migrate in some reasonable percentage to McCain. McCain already has a good portion of the ‘I am sick of the clintons’ vote.

Provocative, drives one to their knees.

JACK WHEELER is a brilliant man who was the author of Reagan's strategy to break the back of the Soviet Union with the star wars race and expose their inner weakness. For years he wrote a weekly intelligence update that was extremely interesting and well structured and informed. He consults(ed) with several mega corporations on global trends and the future, etc.

I think he is in semi-retirement now. He is a true patriot with a no-nonsense approach to everything. He is also a somewhat well known mountain climber and adventurer.

Written by Dr. Jack Wheeler

The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understandin g of how the world works, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.

He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya . Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.

What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is 'African-American,' the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.

Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.

It's something Hillary doesn't understand - how some complete neophyte came out of the blue and stole the Dem nomination from her. Obamamania is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white.

Thus Obama has become the white liberals' Christ, offering absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him:

Credo quia absurdum, I believe it because it is absurd.

Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior.

His candidacy is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any thinking American.

Pass this on to every thinking American you know!
