Coca-Cola plans to celebrate Ramadan this year by decorating cans with a crescent moon and star a widely recognized Islamic symbol.
Coca-Cola has hired a company named ATTIK to handle packaging, Brand Republic reports. Its Christmas cans are usually decorated with secular-themed images of Santa Claus, but McCartney asked the company whether it planned to introduce Christian symbols as well.
"When I learned the symbol of the Islamic faith will appear on Coca-Cola packaging during Ramadan 2008, I found myself wondering whether or not the Atlanta-based soft drink maker will soon include the Christian cross and Jewish star of David in future holiday packaging designs targeting people of those faiths," he wrote.

Hold on, hold on...how stupid is it of Coca-cola (and how insulting) to be introducing artwork on their product that commemorates a religous festival that is basically a fast period, when devout Muslims are not supposed to be drinking or eating anything anyway? Wheres the logic in that?
LOL!
But .... political correctness is often void of logic.

Thanks for that link. I am not a coke fan to start with, but I'll never drink another coke product.

“Im addicted to Coke. Damn them!”
My sentiments exactly. Would it help to stock up in advance, then buy none as long as that vile symbol is on the can, then go back to buying Coke when it’s gone? Would they notice the drop in sales?

Quite frankly, I don't care............they are doing this in select middle eastern countries to sell more of their product. If that is the case, then who cares? They're just tailoring their packaginf for the local market. What's the big deal?

This is more proof that an Islamic takeover of our country is being instituted by degrees. They hope we wont notice these small, innocent changes or, as bleeding heart idiots would think, gee, Muslims are a part of our country, too, and need coddling to feel at home. Sorry to bust your outrage, but this is only going to be for cans sold in the Muslim world.

Sorry to bust your outrage, but this is only going to be for cans sold in the Muslim world.Well, good luck trying to bust my outrage when BMW, in their brochures for the middle East, showed Israel as non-existent, and "palestine" in its stead.
It takes more than twisted logic to be effective.
By the way, welcome to FR, abdul.

You should know that tailoring your marketing, products and packaging is a common practice when you try to sell yourt goods or services abroad. McDonalds in India doesn't sell beef, American banks in the Middle-East offer specially-structured "no-interest" loans, you can buy beer in some American fast-food joints in Europe, and so on.

Devout or radical Muslims don't drink Coke in the Middle East because there is a Coca-Cola bottling plant in Israel. Devout or radical Muslims drink Pepsi.
Plus, Ramalama-dingdong is an exercise in abstinence and fasting. Eid-al-Fitr, the three days that mark the end of Ramalama-dingdong is the feasting holiday.
So Coca-Cola is making a complete fool of itself in its stupid attempt to be PC and practice diversity and all that garbage.
