Ships from Canada, US, Poland to Enter Black Sea Waters: Deputy Chief of Russian General Staff

Russia, Moscow, 19 August/ TrendNews, corr R. Agayev/ The ships from Canada, US and Poland are expected to enter the Black Sea waters by the end of August to carry out a peacekeeping mission, Noqovitsin, deputy chief of the Russian General Staff said to in a briefing in Moscow.

At the night of 8 August, large-scale military operations were launched in the self-declared South Ossetia republic. The Georgian troops entered Tskhinvali. Later the Russian troops entered the city and drove the Georgian forces back to the Georgian territory.

On 12 August, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced that he has decided to end operations to compel Georgia to peace.

“The Black Sea Fleet continues to carry out a peacekeeping mission. The ships from Canada, US and Poland are expected to enter the Black Sea waters by the end of August,” he said.

If there is one nation that has really stood up to the Bear after the Georgia tragedy, it has been Poland. I commend it for making a naval presence in the Russians' Mare Nostrum.
